7 days!!!!  Hell week is officially over and I'm moving on.  Heck week.  Not quite as bad, but I'm still prepared.  It was fun to log on this morning and look at my stats.  My reward is to make a deposit into my savings account that is equal to the money I have saved.  And I'm having lunch with a good friend today at work.  Wooo hoooo!  7 days!  It has felt more like a month!  But I made it :)

Hi Bug :)  I hope you get that figured out soon.  Car issues are a big fat pain.

I'm sorry you missed the BBQ too Jim!  We will have another one soon.

I hope everyone has a beautiful, non-smoking day.

Hi PB!  Thanks for dropping in.  It very very nice to see you!  And thanks.

Dave, that was so sweet that it actually turned my sour mood around a bit.

Thanks Ashley.  I hope so.  Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and don't smoke.

Hi Kaiser..... it's starting out a little rough, but mornings have been hard everyday.

This is the 4th time I've attempted to write.  I can't figure out how to keep the kittens from going behind the computer area!  They've knock the power cord out 4 times now.  Good thing they're cute :)

Determined to write though because it really helps center the day and put my head in the right space to keep going.  The beginning of day 5.  One of the challenges yesterday, and today, is to try and figure out what to do with myself.  It's amazing what a gap not smoking leaves as far as how much I structured my activities around that.  Kinda gross when you think about it.  okay need to mail this quick because kittens went behind computer again.....

Hi Deb.
Just checking. I know you are feeling better today. Rest as  much as you can!
I'm also sorounded by nonsmoking persons, so they have a really hard time understanding the nicotine addiction.
But we have this wonderful people rooting for us!
Haang on. Remember, it does gets better!

deb,

Hopefully when you read this you are well into your 4th day smoke-free and you have tackled those cravings. It sounds like you really have the right mentality for this quit and taking each day as it comes will definitely be helpful. Please know that over time those cravings will become more manageable and your new life as a non-smoker will be the biggest reward!

Stay close and stay strong deb.

Wow Jules.... you pretty much pinned down how I'm feeling.   Day 4 and I knew to be prepared.  It started out well enough, but by 4pm I couldn't even post.  I can't even write much now except I know I need to.  Day 4 seems to be the breaking point.  Either keep going or give in.

When I was about to go into town, I did keep going back because I thought I forgot something.  I checked my purse, keys, money, lights, coffee pot, t.v. locked the door......

I didn't give in.  I'm in so much pain though.  I know day 5 gets better (I hope).   What the heck is in the ingredients of cigarettes anyway????

Last night I had a dream......  I dreamed that I had bought a new car that was 4 days old (same days old as my quit).  It was beautiful, and I had invested a lot.  A yucky looking guy walked by and threw in a taffy ball the size of a softball and told me that it was herion (which I have never seen).  There were people clawing at the new car trying to get to the herion.

I'm not sure why I had that dream, but I can say that besides everyone here, the people that I hold dear have never smoked except for my mom, and they are having a hard time understanding (perhaps the heroin ball).  I finally had to tell them not to text, email, phone, or drop by for 2 days.  Don't throw stuff into my new car!  :)

I'm glad I wrote tonight.  I was feeling hopeless, but your message Jules kept me going.  I'm going to go change into my jammies, take a wonderful deep breath, and get some sleep.

You also are doing so well.  I'm sorry that I missed the beginnings of your quit.  You have what it takes, not only to quit, but to help others with their quit.  Thanks to you and Marvini too for your posts today.

Deb, my mind works likes yours does, everytime I read what you write I can totally relate....I am at 23 days, I still have cravings, moments when I want to throw in the towel and smoke....just one cigarette, but believe it or not, this website and the quit meter on my computer is keeping me smober...........its been 23 days, but its actually longer cuse I quit for a while on Cinco De Mayo, so I was practacing, but now its 23 days with NO nicotine at all............I went through the phase there for a miniute of splurging with the money I knew Iwas going to smoke with and bought myself some summer sandals and Almond soap.  The rewards are so important,,,,,but then I think you get to a point where the fact that your not smoking is the reward........your just so grateful that you don't feel like your relying on something outside of yourself to make you feel good. Its really weird, when I get ready to leave the house, I feel lighter, I don't have to panic if I walk to my car and realize that I forgot my smokes, and I have to go back and get them, like I used to. I might only be going to the store, but if I forgot my smokes I would go back in and get them, so I could smoke when I came out of the store...cuse God knows, being in a store for 20 miniutes your pheening for a cigarette when you come out...........its werid too, that I feel less rushed,,,,,,I can take my time, looking over things, instead of rushing so I can get outside to smoke.......these seem like minor things, to me they are huge.  I think its fantastic that your setting a great example for your child by not smoking too, your baby will much healthier too. Keep up the good job.......Jules
