I have suffered panic attacks for years and developed agoraphobia, specifically line ups, restauants, public transit. I have two sons and just to go out I would have to have a drink to calm the anxiety. Needless to say I gradually worked my way up to two bottles of wine at a sitting. Finally got tired of having hangovers all of the time. Quit booze and within a week anxiety started to diminish. Started walking the dog up and down the street, moderate exercise and I am really starting to feel great. Am flying to England next week alone. WOW. Try to stay away from booze as it feels okay at the time but really just makes things worse.

Hi cali13, I responded to a post earlier about this. Members do complain that alcohol makes their anxiety aymptoms worse. It can also react with certain medications. Please be sure to let your doctor know about this issue. Casey _____________________________ The Panic Center Support Team

hello, this is my first time writing anything. i always read everyone elses conversations and a lot of them make me feel a lot better since i know i am not alone. my question is does anyone out there drink alcohol to deal with their panic attacks? i do and i actuallly think i have now compounded my problems. i also take paxil. it has been about a month and i dont feel like it is working so i continue to drink to cope with everyday life. i also wonder if my drinking is inhibiting the paxil from doing its job? if anyone can relate or has any input i would love to hear from you. thanks, cali13
