Has anyone quit Paxil?

Thanks so much for the reassurance! You'd think losing weight would just be a good thing, but being a worrier of health issues, it makes it hard to accept good things - as you all know ;) I do feel better knowing other people experienced the same though. Thanks a ton!

Vickers4, I had an awful time quitting Paxil, and I did loose about 20 pounds when I did. I think a lot had to do with not eating well (upset stomach). But I did find that daily exercise helped quite a bit. If you can't leave the house, I recommend an exercise bike or a treadmill. HTH!! Good luck with the Paxil withdrawals!!

I have heard this story so many times!!! I do hear the two worst things about paxil is weight gain and the side effects when you try and quit!!! All I read said you will lose the weight you gained once you get off it. Rejoice @!!@!@!

I quit Paxil and have been 8 weeks completely free of it. It took me about three months to wean down to being completely off it, so I guess it's been about 5 months since I started getting off it. Anyway, since I started getting off it, I have been losing weight like crazy. When I was on it, I gained about 80-90 pounds. Now I have lost at least 40 of it. I shouldn't be complaining right? I asked my doctor about it and she said that it was normal to lose weight when quitting Paxil. But good ol' reliable Ms. Anxiety is not so sure. I haven't changed my diet and I don't excercise regularly so I don't understand why I am losing weight. Anyone else experience this when quitting Paxil or other SSRI? Side note that I have to mention: When I quit Paxil I went through the most horrendous experience of my life - worse than having panic attacks. The withdrawals were so awful that the only reason I didn't just get back on the Paxil was because I knew there was no way I could go through the withdrawals ever again. I found a website that I truly believe saved my life while I was going through the withdrawals - so I have to mention it. If you are thinking of quitting Paxil or if you are in the process of coming off it, check out this website: www.quitpaxil.info Everything you need to know, what to expect, support and advice is offered. This is a fabulous and extremely informative website but, I haven't found any info on the site about weight loss. Is my weight loss from quitting Paxil?
