What is your chest pain like??

20 years ago 0 56 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I get the stabbing pain and the pain in the ribs underneath (chondritis can be related to stress/anxiety). I have acid reflux and am taking Nexium and am feeling better in the dept. I smoke. I want to quit. I believe smoking and eating bad are BIG factors when dealing with or eliminating anxiety. I have this vibrating feeling in my chest. This feeling scares me the most. I do not have a clue what it is, and the doctors have no idea either and say "probably just anxiety."

Ive had many tests ran to test my heart, because I honestly felt there was something severely wrong with me. Not just a panic attack, but something far worse. But everything is fine with my heart, they said that I was completely healthy. When I have my panic attacks, its a sharp pain, it hurts all over the entire front of my chest. It feels like its closing in on me and like Im restricted with my breathing. It hurts and fear accompanies that becasue, the pain is so bad and real and I cant breath and I feel I will die (knowing now that I wont I still have thought in the back of my head many times).

I sometimes get chest pain when I'm feeling anxious. It's more of a dull pain in the center or left of my chest. Not bad enough to make me think I'm having a heart attack or anything. But it's bad enough that I can't stop focusing on it. I think it's from getting tense when I feel anxious so my muscles hurt. But who knows...

Grace, I just read your post about chest pain, since you were so wonderful to me I wanted to help you, I get chest pain sometimes and I usually get it when I smoke too much, wear tight clothes, power walk hard, or just from stress and anxiety, my can be "stabby like" or a dull ache, I notice if I take a steamy hot shower it helps it, my little boy got it on exertion when he took adderall, some meds cause it, I got it when I took Lexapro last year and also some shortness of breath with the Lexapro, Paxil or Zoloft did NOT do that to me, I hope the pain is gone and you are feeling better, I hope this helps. I feel better too, I guess there is a little part of me that still is worried about me being pregnant {Am I the 1% out of 99% that will not test correctly??} but I am trying very hard to shut those feeling out of my mind. How old are you Grace? if I can ask, are you married with any Kids? I know you work, I wish I could work, I envy you, we have only one car and no child care and with my panic it would be hard not impossible but hard, I am trying to ignore the pain in my tummy, I am just hoping its "left-over stress" I so want to relax the last two weeks have been hell for me and I feel I put stress upon my husband and child. Please write me later and let me know how you are feeling. Debbie.

Hi, For any members here that are experiencing chest pain, although it is associated with anxiety, please be sure to have it investigated by your doctor first if you have not done so already - just to be on the safe side and also possibly to get reassurance from your doctor that, yes, it may be due to anxiety, or if further testing is warranted. Can you describe what your pain is like when you have chest pain? Is it sharp and stabbing? deep and dull? does it move around your chest or stay in one spot and how long does it last?? What have you found that works the fastest to relieve it??? I like comparing notes on this because it makes me feel better!!! I have been having it all day but it is not unlike the same chest pain I have had for a couple of years. Just still makes me freaky. It is painful, like bad heartburn. It can be a fast sharp pain and then after that just a dull ache for a long time.
