nervous and wanting to smoke

Thanks Kelly CD and Mr.Q since getting on here this morning and getting help from all of you the BIG craving has gone down to a minor crave. Kelly I'm like you I can make myself so sick from stressing out over things that I have no control over, CD I always enjoy your post lots of them make me giggle   It sounds like your Mom is doing better, and that's great. I lost my mom to cancer but for 12 years before the cancer she lived with only 20% of her heart working, she had had a major heart attack at 48 yrs old which I will be the 29th of this month so I know some of this is things like that running thru my mind. Mr. Q I even made the remark to the nurse that I'm falling apart since I quit smoking she smiled and said no it was already happening and I was blaming everytime I felt lousy on the smoking so your line from the book rings very true. I do love the SSC and all you wonderful folks here. Thank you all for caring.

Hi Lisa,

A line from one of my favorite books comes to mind.....

"I am not going through these things because I quit smoking, I am going through these things because I started smoking."

Tests are not fun but it's nice that we have the technology to tell us what's going on inside of us that we may fight back.  Imagine the alternative.  Maybe someday they will come out with something that's a little faster.  lol.

You have come too far to let this go now.  Stay strong Lisa.  Smoking won't help but it will definately make things worse.

Lisa -

Don't smoke, it won't help. The dream was trying to give you that information. It was trying to let you know how it would feel if you gave in, without actually having to give in. It's a defense mechanism. It's your own mind telling you that having a smoke is not the answer to dealing with this stress. You already know that.

I'm sorry to hear that something isn't right. My mother has recently gone through something like this, same tests at any rate. She had gone into a-fib and didn't feel right. She had the tests etc, was placed on some meds, her heart rhythm has spontaneously converted back to normal and she is coming off the meds one by one. She is feeling better all the time.

I tell you this story because we went through the kind of stress you are feeling now and all seems to be working out okay.

Please take one day at a time and don't lose your quit. I've drawn strength from you during my quit, I am here to return the favor to you now...

STAY SMOKE FREE PLEASE!

Lisa,

I am so sorry.  I can understand how you feel.  I hate that tests take so long to come back.  Iwish they would realize that within those few days of waiting the stress can make you sick.  It does to me.  I have had to go through that more than a few times.    Like groovywoman said, the tests are going to come back no matter what, so distract yourself.  Take care of yourself, the stress isn't going to help your heart any more than a cigarette would.  I know it is easy to say, but no matter what, we are here for you.  Hang in there Lisa, we are all behind you.  keep us posted.
