Don't think about forever...that scared me a TON in the beginning.  I was so afraid of succeeding because that would mean no more cigs!  Just take that thought out of your head and deal with this thing one day at a time, one week at a time...before you know it you'll be so proud of how far you've come you'll wonder why you were worried about never smoking again!  Watching your quit meter go up is a good feeling and you won't want to mess that up or go back to do those first days over again.

Come on , hang in !!  you can do this.  it sounds like you sure want to. It is hard , but it sounds like you have important reasons to continue with your quit.  A husband that you love, and your plans of wanting to be a Mother.

Welcome Lucy.  "I've quit so many times...........", kinda sounds like me.  Lucy you have 4 days down and you never have to do them again if you don't smoke.  I don't care how many times one quits it is always the same "hell" when you put them down again and again.
 
I would quit and feel so good and then the chatter began.  You can have a puff, you can have one, you don't need to tell anyone, then it is not you can have one it is  "I HAVE TO HAVE ONE!!!   Then comes the hiding your smoking and waiting for the chance to get away so you can have that smoke.  Then comes the gum, candy, body spray; sound faimlar?
 
Lucy quitting is easy; staying quit is the hard part for me.  I am going beat this addiction once and for all, want to join me and some of my SSC friends?  We are here for you anytime.

I bet you are a smart girl.  Smoking doesn't make you dumb, you are addicted to nicotine it holds on to make life feel like $hit without it.  Dumb would be smoking in bliss acting like there's nothing bad that can happen from it.  In other words If you do it and think your a moron your not, if you do it and think that your not a moron you are....lol....Hopefully that came out the right way...
 
We have all been there....We all have that inner voice that crumbles us....It's the voice that convinces you that your Superman and then laughs when you realize your not....It's the bait and switch.....Something like "Just have one, then throw the rest away."  we all reply "Yeah, that's right I'm better than everyone that fails after having one....I can do this."  Yeah right.  We have all been there and have failed miserably....Well, I dunno, maybe there are some Superman wannabes out there somewhere.  Either way most of us are not Super men or women but one thing you are is smart....
 
You wouldn't be here if you weren't.....There are a few key things to remember...
 
1) A drug that fixes everything doesn't fix anything....Apparently cigarettes fix fear, anger, sadness, bordom, anxiety, and complements relaxation....I think you get my point....
 
2) Remember when you first started smoking and it tasted like $hit....That's what it really tastes like....Most people start because they want to be cool and force themselves to smoke more and more until they can handle it...Then a miracle happens "They taste friggin awesome."  lol.....What happens is a chemical reaction takes place that resets your brain while your "getting used to it."  The end result is that your brain gets thrown off balance so you need to smoke to return to a normal (non smoking) state.  If your like my wife you probably have shoes and you probably have some shoes that a sane person wouldn't wear...I know my wife does....So your walking around in your comfy shoes and your are in a normal state....A non smoking state....Then an event happens that requires you to wear the tightest shoes you have....It hurts bad at first and then the feeling tapers off....As the night goes on you get a little more uncomfortable until finally you can't take it anymore and take the shoes off....Wow!!!  What a feeling, what a high....Smoking is the same exact thing....That great feeling, that great high....It doesn't exist...
 
Add this to your armour and you'll be fine...After all it's not hard to win a fight once you understand the opponent...Take care..

  Welcome to the group you already have 4 days down, that's fantastic!!! Stick around here and post often. Take this day by day cause I know exactly what you meant by being scared not to quit but also being scared to quit, I had to look at it as a day by day thing , in the begining I couldn't even imagine me going without smoking forever. You can do this, Never quit Quitting.

Welcome to our support centre where you will find a wealth of great advice, wisdom and support. Congratulations on making the decision to kick the habit, even though you have tried several times before.
 
Preparation is key as this is an addiction. You need to figure out how your going to deal with cravings and what new habit you'll replace smoking with. (The program will help you do all this.)

You'll also need to put into place a reward system. It should have three components: small one for after each craving, medium for the end of each smoke-free day and a bigger one for the end of each smoke-free week.

They say it takes the average person 7 quit attempts before they succeed, so don't be too hard on yourself.

Why is it that the idea of never having another smoke terrifies me?  I'm a smart girl, I know what they do to me...I know that cancer runs in my family on both sides and I've listened to my mother and father coughing and a close friend wheeze whenever he exerts himself.  I know that I cannot consider getting pregnant while I'm smoking and that when I was hiding the fact that I smoked from my husband I was lying to him and jeapordizing our relationship.
 
I'm scared that I can't do it...and scared that I can.
