Hi Todd yes it is a real SOB, imagine  just how powerful the addiction is and how crazy for something that is rolled in white paper to have so much control over your thoughts and you life.  To quit and regain control of your life ROCKS  you can do this :)  Tresa

Hi Todd,

First off, congratulations on completing day 2!

By far, your first smoke-free week is the most difficult. Our Support Group members call the first week of quitting “hell week” because that’s when withdrawal symptoms are their strongest. As a smoker, you’ve spent a large part of your waking hours feeding your body nicotine, so when you stop the feeding, your body craves what it misses. During your first smoke-free week your withdrawal symptoms (and cravings) may, at times, seem almost unbearable. However it’s extremely important for you to realize that these symptoms do, and will, taper off.
Please continue to post and let us know how you are doing. We are here to support you through this!

hi Todd,

I was wondering how you were doing today. Sounds like that old Nicodemon is making a last stand. The first three days are the worst so hang in there.... you are 2/3 done! Once all that bad nicoteen is out of your system... it's easier. So stay strong... muscle through it!!!! Power on!

Scream, cry, punch your hand into a pillow, eat, drink ice water, eat ice chips, suck on a straw, read all the old posts here, take a nap but do not smoke!!!! you will thank yourself in the morning!!!

You have some hurdles but health-wise this is going to give you a major boost!!!!!

Hey, look at it this way.... you are cleaning your own environment!! How about that???

Hang in there!

Hi Tk,,   yes thiw is one of the toughest things you will do...... I really do recommend "Allen Carr's Easy Way To Quit Smoking"   I gre up in a smoking home.... I didn't think I ever would or could quit.. I a a 5+ yr stroke survivor,  i even failed quit attempts after a stroke.

Some hints that helped me.. and maybe they will trigger some change in thinking for you:

I had to admit.. I am an addict...just like any other type of addiction.. only difference... government reaps taxes from this legal addiction..    I am a Nicotine addiction.  Nicotine and all the other chemicals in there .... will kill me.... like most illegal drugs.  How do you deal wth an addiction.  YOU STOP USING.    so that last cigarette you put in the ash tray... it was Your last.... oh it is an option to smoke.. if you choose to put another one in your mouth..  Do it with the awarness.. that one is never going to be enough... every 30 minutes, or when one of your triggers goes off, you will automatically do this again, and again & again..   you will never be satisified.

Use use tools and programs... figure out the money saved...    I bought a new lap top.  I bought rewards with the money I saved.   I like it now that I smell better..   I can't believe I smelled like that and NEVER knew it  OMG  (hanging head in embarrassment and shame).

I have more Freedom.. I am not being controlled by a $6.00  pack of weeds and poison.   I don;t worry if I have them with me, do I have enough till I get home.  Do I have enough money or smokes until next payday.  Oh man... we are going where?    oh how am I going to sneak out and smoke.... where?  oh it's raining and I am huddled under a teeny over hang trying not to get drenched to get a few puffs so this idiot in my head shuts up. man this "best friend sure treats me like crap .. i have to stand in ice and snow to shuthim up ... i can't stay at the party and finish my coffee or conversation.. he is screamng in my ear..... smoke smoke smoke  NOW

who is tougher... you  or a white stick with some nicotine and poison

Very tough, 2 nd day. I want to run out and get a pack. I know I can't though. very tough. Why the hell I ever do this anyway. So hard. I can't have kids because of testicular cancer, but I continue to smoke. I am cancer free, thank god. But that is how hard this addiction is....INSANE!!
