Hi Ron havent had alot of time here in the past couple of days but glad to see you are hanging in there :) you are doing good, keep up the good quit, Tresa My Milage:
My Quit Date: 8/8/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 2184 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 52,416 Amount Saved: $9,172.80 Life Gained: Days: 312 Hrs: 5 Mins: 46 Seconds: 46
I took HP's advice and took the patch off last night and I was fine this morning--no problems at all. I think I will stop by the drug store tonight and pick up a box of the 14mg patches to see if that makes a difference.
Thanks again for all the great advice.

RonR, I too suffered from the overdose symptoms for the same reason as HP, my brand was low tar lights, and I had already dramatically reduced my cigarette intake before my quit, so the 21 mg patch was actually giving me way over what I had been having. I felt jittery, dizzy, anxious and really at one point quite unwell. However, I told my nurse and we reduced the dose to 14mg and it stopped.
I also took the patch off at night due to disturbed sleep and bizarre dreams. My main concern was early morning smoking as I literally had one straight out of bed. But I actually found keeping the new patch by the bedside and applying it as soon as I got up really helped.
Hang on in there, it does get easier, and as tough as it was you did get through day 5 and you won!

exercise will help a lot when the craving get intense. and please keep this thought in mind , sometimes you just have to get tough and tell the cig cravings that you will kick their tail , that you will win , not the smokes !
you can do it.

Hope your day is starting off better. I don't know why day 5 can be such a hard day, but it was for me also. I used Chantix with this quit, but when I used the patches I took them off at night. Don't worry about the morning just put one on as soon as you wake up. As long as you don't have any cigarettes around you will be fine. Each day brings its own rewards and it's own challenges. The sleep, oh I remember that, but you will sleep again. When you can't sleep just remember your body is healing and use the time to reflex and be grateful. Do a mental list, do some visuals. Lack of sleep won't kill you but those cigarettes will.
Keep the Quit
