Hi Morgan, Although fellow members will be responding to your questions and concerns, please also be sure to ask them of your doctor, i.e. with respect to how long a panic attack lasts, they can be of different durations and yours may be different from others. I get those strange sensations too & they are very scary. However, the good news about dizziness is that it is usually benign - I think I've personally ruled out all the bad things, but I hate it! I can't really define it either. It's like I feel dizzy, but I'm not really spinning (and the room isn't spinning). Sorta like my mind is dizzy. I get it confussed with lightheadedness too because I can't pinpoint which it is - lightheadedness or dizziness or both. It's really confusing. I found this article quite helpful to remind me that I (and you too probably) have ruled out most of the serious causes, and to remind me of the effects of anxiety. I get the pain in my face/sinuses/head too. Sometimes it's like a can't open my mouth very far (my teeth want to stay together). I know it sounds weird. That's usually when I start to feel like a can't swallow very well. I wish someone would be more clear about how long symptoms can last. If I was haveing a "panic attack", I've read it can only last about 30 mins, but when I get these feelings, they can last most of the day! I know there is a doctor out there, maybe she can answer this question? I've also been having this crazy leg thing in one leg - like pins & needles, then cramps - like I have a really tight sock on - not really painful, but crampy. Mostly in my calf area, but sometimes my hip hurts. It's been like this almost 2 weeks off & on (mainly on). Somebody want to let me know if they get that? Just letting you know you are not alone - you sound just like me & I feel better knowing that. Edited on 3/7/2005 @ 8:29:40 PM by The Support Team

Heather, Have you tried relaxation techniques? What about breathing techniques? For tonight, prepare by reducing your anxiety level as much as you can. Try a hot bath, some soothing music or a warm beverage? Tomorrow do sign up for the Panic Diary where you can record your daily level of anxiety. You can also find how helpful it is to use breathing techniques to help you deal with your panic and anxiety. The Panic Program can help you understand more and may help you go about challenging your thoughts. Take Care, Melanie _____________________________ The Panic Center Support Team

Anita, Thanks for your response I am glad I have someone to relate to because I dont think my fiancee understands what I am going through right now I am really struggling. I started therapy last week though. I have chosen to go the route of all natural and no drugs just vitamins. I feel I will get passed this. I just need to focus on myself instead of everyone else for a little while Heather

I lately have noticed that when my anxiety heats up, I get feeling light headed and somewhat dizzy. I tend to forget it is anxiety related and then over-guess myself to death about WHY am I feeling dizzy. Lately, I have had a LOT going on in my life and my anxiety is at an all time high. I come home every night and hop on the board here to see how everyone is doing and also so I can compare symtoms. Yesterday the pain between my shoulder blades was so bad and sharp, and of course made me very nervous. However I took a prevacid for acid reflux and the pain went away. I always tell myself this: "Okay, self. I am going to take this medication (tylenol, pepto..whater) and if the pain goes away then I know it was related to that thing, if not...then I can worry!) of course it usually takes care of things.
