Slinky, you are cool. I have it worse, that energy rush for me will not stop, it as if my adrenal glands have been programed for non-stop. Or if i took 5000mg of Panax Ginseng. WHEW! (never take that much either, just a warning) About derealization, im going on thorazine, i have had enought! Edited on 2/28/2005 @ 10:32:51 AM by The Support Team

Slinky how old were you when you had your first Panic attack? I was 14 in the middle of class when I had mine. I'm now 26 and I still get them seriously bad. I usually only have 1 or 2 with 3-4 years in between, but for some reason I had one this past November and now they're lingering around on a weekly bases now. It's very scary. you're not alone. The scary thing for me is mine hit me usually at night shortly after falling asleep or during odd ball times, like during sex or right after sexual climax. I guess we all have our own embarassing PA stories, I thought mine would help you feel a little better.

Thank you so much to everyone who has replied! I just don't know what happened yesterday it hit me from nowhere!! I still can't figure out what was wrong! Just one of those times I guess! The good thing about this site is that you can post anytime and that is great because it actually gives you a chance to distract yourself, even though your talking about the attack it takes your mind off it as your doing something! Once again thanks to everyone, I don't feel so isolated anymore.

Hi slinky Hope you are feeling better now. Those "out of nowhere" PAs are always the worse ones I know. I have found that journaling out my thoughts at the time I am feeling anxious helps me to get an idea about what might be the trigger. Sometimes the trigger is hard to identify so I just let the feelings flow onto the paper and then discuss them with my therapist. Little by little I am learning how to discover my triggers and to let the feelings go. Today I had what I call "sustained anxiety" no actual attack just feeling on the edge of one all day. Its mentally and physically exhausting. But by the end of the day I think I might have found my trigger and I feel somewhat better now. Sorry your having a bad time.

Hi slinky, Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better now. You may find coming here to the site helps. Sometimes it is comforting to know that you are not alone in the symptoms that panic and anxiety can bring. When times like this hit, try to use your coping mechanisms that help you to relax such as taking a warm shower or bath or having a warm drink, deep breathing exercises etc... whatever you feel works best for you. I am having such a rubbish day today and its getting worse! For some reason I've come over really anxious and I feel like any minute I'm going to panic and I have no idea why!! I got that horriable rush of energy though me that comes at the start of a panic! And I keep going all spacey and detatched. I know everyone has had this themselves and I have loads of times before but this has come from nowhere and I'm scared. I don't know why though!! I've had this so many times and know so much about it I can't understand why it still happens, I hate it so much! I am so cross my life is like this, I hate it and I'm so dissapointed with things, I don't think I'm ever going to be normal again! I'm 23 and this is what my life has come to already, I guess the only way it can go is up.
