Hi beckylynn I am on day 4 and I use chantix too.  Day 3 was difficult for me, but from previous quits, I knew that what I was experienceing was NOTHING compared to going cold turkey.  Your body does have to heal and it is going to take some time.  Try to stay away from situations that might cause you to relapse.  Like if you go outside during breaks, just don't go.  Other smokers (I know alot anyway) try to actually get you to smoke and try to sabotage your efforts.  I think that is because they are not ready to quit yet themselves but know they should.  I have found that I get more support on line and with non smokers than I do with smokers.

Hi Beckylynn. I used .... picturing things.. the cravies as a "nicodemon" or a junkie.. to me it looked like a crazed tazmanian devil with bulging eyes.. and stae smelly cigarette breath.. I beat him up with a baseball bat. I also tried to picture myself in all kinds of situations without.. smoking. A friend gave me a hug and told me how great my hair smelled ( I shampooed the day before..... ) keep the positives going. try Not to dwell on negatives. I used ice chips, fruit juice bars... getting my mouth and tongue really cold. The first week is Hell week the 2nd is Heck week.. and around day 4 the nicotine is out of your system so beieve me the junkie is going to scream like crazy... I am resisting and trying to think about something else and do something else, but, man, this is hard!!!!! THANKS FOR THE ADVICE DANIELLE. I PRINTED OUT THE MILESTONE BOOK YESTERDAY AND SPENT HALF THE NIGHT LAST NIGHT READING AND FILLING OUT THE QUESTIONS. I AN KEEPING A PAPER LOG AS WELL AS THE ONE ON LINE. THAT WAY IF I CAN'T GET ON LINE I HAVE IT WITH ME ON PAPER. I AM TRYING TO BE AS PREPARED AS POSSILBLE. Beckylynn, Our Support Group members call the second smoke-free week �heck week�. It�s called �heck week; because the withdrawal symptoms and cravings are not as severe as they are during �hell week� (the first week). However, during this second week you might feel �tired of fighting� the withdrawal symptoms and cravings. It�s important for you to measure the difference between feeling tired of fighting withdrawal symptoms, and their actual level of severity. After you set your quit date we begin to have you fill out your Cravings Diary. Your Cravings Diary (located in your Glove Compartment), has been designed to allow you to actually see how your withdrawal symptoms and cravings decrease. By seeing how cravings decrease the diary will help you visualize the difference between cravings and feeling tired of fighting. Make sure to use your Craving�s Diary each day for the first few months of your quit. It�s also important to realize that each quitter experiences different withdrawal symptoms - yours will be unique. Although they may be unpleasant, they do and will pass. When you experience withdrawal symptoms and cravings, remind yourself that each symptom is a sign of recovery. Your body is healing itself and is learning how to live nicotine. If you have a withdrawal symptom that persists or seems worse than you expected, you should immediately consult a doctor. It�s possible that your tobacco use has masked the symptoms of some other illness, and when you quit these symptoms may abruptly become noticeable. Danielle, Bilingual Health Educator

I almost had a panic attack this morning. I tried to get into this web sight and I must have typed something wrong and some wierd site popped up. I freaked. Took a deep breath and tried again. WOOHOO!! Beckylynn, you're doing it!! Don't forget that right now, you're body is healing. You're going to experience a lot of emotions, and physical differences than when smoking. I started coughing really badly the first week, as well as the dry throat. That went away. I started to drink an awful lot of water. It really helped. Hang in there..I does get easier. Well made it all the way in day 2. Actually it was a great day. I hope I can repeat it today. I'm not sure it will happen though. Did not sleep well last night, headache and very dry throat, it felt like it was closing up on me. I have had this problem with my throat for some time. Now one can tell me why. It may start even before I go to bed, but it gets worse as I sleep. The Doc says it may stop when I quit smoking. Well we will see. Only had a little crave driving into work. This Chantix I think really works for me. Either that or you guys are just to good at what you do for others. I don't think I could do this without this site. Thanks to all.
