I truly appreciate all the help. I immediately grabbed a menthol cough drop while I listened to several co-workers give me advice on what to do about my pending divorce after 25 years of marriage. I have a whole bag of these now since I can't take the Chantix anymore.

Can you take a break, got to the bathroom or someoplace .. and have that cry... that is a real emotion... smoking is not going to make the bad news go away, or turn it into good news. It will just make you want another, another, another... People get bad news every moment.. non-smokers get bad news too. Take a big deep breath.. hold it a couple seconds let it out. Now drink some ice water.. or shew on an ice chip.. Take a pencil and break it in half .. Say to yourself.. I do Not smoke.. Smoking a cigarette will not do a d**n thing for you, Tiny. Take time right now today to be alone for a while (go to the restroom if at work) and just grieve over the bad news and tell yourself that it will not send you into a tailspin and make you lose your quit! Life is just doing it's thing and is not trying to kill you! You stick close to the site and tell us what's going on with you... Drink the iced water and then stop and close your eyes for a minute and let it all go...... Hi Tiny, You said it right at the beginning, "I don't want to relapse (smoke)!!" And you do not have to! You never have to smoke again. Take deep breaths. Drink a cold glass of water. Even chomp on some gum or hard candy. Smoking will not make you feel better. Getting thru this without smoking will make you feel better. I promise. I am so sorry things are tough for you. You just hang tough, the craving will pass. My best to you! Hello Tiny, I know sometimes it seem that the solution would be to have one. But you see, the problem is you cannot just have one, and it will not solve any problems that you might have. Try distracting yourself, do you have someone to talk to, maybe try going for a walk, drink some water, exercise, watch some tv. But please don't smoke, you would feel so sorry after, specially since like I already said it will not change the situation. I went through a couple real tough situations last year, and smoking was not an option. It was not an option simply because it would not have changed a thing. Please post and keep us updated.
