Hi Dazy, and welcome. I am with Jim, check with doc or pharmacist about taking a sleeping aid, it could help. I take it every night and I also take anti anxiety meds, you wouldn't think I'd need them. I do whatever it takes to stay quit..good luck to you and welcome. Hi Dazy! I saw that you were 1 day into your quit and wanted to welcome you to the SSC! I quit using Chantix and had the dreams and sleeplessness for a couple of weeks. My doctor said to take the medication earlier and that it was OK to use an over the counter sleep aid to see if that would help. Well, I did do that for one night and found that it didn't do too much for me. So, check with your Dr. about the sleep aid, or just live with it for a couple of weeks, side effects be damned, and it will get better soon!! The main thing is, if the Zyban is helping you to stay quit and the side effects are "minor" for you, stick with it until you don't feel you need it any more! Good luck and stick with your quit!!! I am not positive, but I think Zyban and Wellbutrin are the same. I took Wellbutrin, had trouble sleeping in the beginning but it did get better. I was just so happy to no be smoking, I was ok with it and knew it was temporary. I never thought I would be where I am in my quit. Hi Daz.....i was on Zyban for 5 days and had to stop taking it. It was making me really dizzy and I am still feeling the effects of it. It did help in me quitting but it stays in your system forever...LOL....Hang in there. Hi Dazz, I am on the same med--and had a bit of trouble sleeping thee first two weeks. It has gotten better--I am getting enough rest; but not sleeping as soundly as before. I am on the sustained release (SR) so, it is best to take it in the morning. Give it a couple weeks & if it's not better check with your dr. PS--It is definitely helping me.. Dazy, check out the instructions. I think its very similar to Chantix and that you have to take the second pill earlier in the evening, to avoid the sleep disturbance.(It does improve as you get used to it too.) Also, the dreams are very common, but they're only dreams. The sleep disturbance is also common with quitting smoking, so you may need to be prepared for a bit of it, the first couple of weeks. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 378 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,450 Amount Saved: $3,987.90 Life Gained: Days: 49 Hrs: 15 Mins: 54 Seconds: 50

dazy, It does take some time for medications to kick in, but we encourage you to talk to your doctor and pharmacist as they have better knowledge of the medication and can assist you with side effects and dosages :) Josie, Health Educator

I believe that the sleep issue should settle down with you after a couple of weeks. This is only my experience from having taken a similar drug years ago. Ask your doctor how long it will last. Since taking zyban i barely sleep, if i do sleep i have these strange dreams. Although it really helps not to smoke. I still have a month and a half to go with Zyban, but if can't sleep. Has anyone been having these kind of problems?
