Jim, Welcome aboard! We encourage you to work through the online quit program located in your glove compartment in addition to participating in our forums. Keep us posted. Danielle, Bilingual Health Educator

Jim...welcome to the best darned site for smoking cessation you'll ever find! Read, post, plan on drinking lots of ice water, watch your meter (really, it is an awesome tool) and you WILL do this! I was a 36 yr smoker and am still a newbie to this site, only have a few weeeks under my belt (oh yeah, and a little more hanging over it,too, but that will disappear)! I have more energy, I want to work out now that I can actually breathe; it is so nice not to stink of smoke and to have to hide out in public places to sneak a smoke! I promise, you will do it this time. Keep up the positive attitude, always think about what you CAN do, not what you can't and you will be a non smoker before you know it! :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/21/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 43 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 774 Amount Saved: $164.48 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 1 Mins: 40 Seconds: 52

Jim, welcome to the site and Babble away! I also started on Chantix. I am on my 17th Day. Took the Chantix for a week and then quit. I also was very emotional and excited and afraid and all those things you said. So come on in and post like crazy if you need. The Chantix really works if you are ready to quit and the site and people here are amazing support. Good Luck. Greetings Everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself! I've been smoking since I was 14 or 15 and have been your 1+ pack per day smoker since. I have tried to quit 3 or 4 times, but eventually I couldn't get over the cravings. My father died of lung cancer last Easter and my brother and my grandmother also died of lung cancer. I had a scare a couple of years ago from an x-ray showing a couple of "spots" on my lungs, which turned out to be scar tissue, or so they told me. That could have been caused by my occupation, but that still didn't get me to commit to quit!!! I finally made the choice after Christmas to kick the butts!! Last week I saw the Doc and got a script for Chantix and selected tomorrow(3-5-08) as my quit day. I've joined the Chantix online program and started doing other research and found this site! Thank God I did! I've been reading several topics and threads over the last week and have found out that this site will probably be the best last chance that I have to quit... FOREVER!!! I'm nervous, excited, happy, scared and sometimes very sad about the prospect of quitting. So many emotions have been going through my mind that it's been hard to concentrate at work, as well as at home!! I'm glad that I have joined the SSC!! I hope that by reading and understanding all of the helpful information on the website, I will become a successful non-smoker!!! Also, I'll be very greatful for all of your support during the process!!! Well, that's it for now! Tomorrow's the big day for me and I hope that it is the last big day like this that I will ever have :) Sorry if it sounds like I'm a babbler, but I just wanted to get this out as an intro! Thanks for unknown support so far and wish me luck!!!
