I notice that I have a super power nose that can detect the smell of smoke blocks away sometimes lol The other day a person was walking about a block ahead of me having a smoke and the breeze was wafting the smell toward me...as for tasting it, yep. yep. yep. If I'm close up to a person who has just had one, I can literally taste it as well as smell it, but that only lasts a few minutes and my senses adjust and I don't notice the smell/taste anymore. As for it making me want to have one...well I know from past quits, that if I were to light up, it would taste every bit as awful as that first ever smoke way back when, and I would feel sick. Feeling sick wouldn't stop my brain from wanting more though... Hi Monkeygirl, I haven't been able to taste cigarettes, but just recently, I've noticed that I've begun to smell cigarette smoke from time to time, but it's in places where there isn't any! Like you, when that happens, I feel as though I've just had one, and that it would make perfect sense to have another. I don't know where this is coming from, since I don't have any friends or acquaintances that still smoke, and I'm not around cigarette smoke any more. I chalk it up to "smoking memory" and just tell myself that I don't need another cigarette. I don't know if I'm tricking myself into believing I've had one or not, but telling myself I don't need another seems to work. Pretty crazy, huh? Oh well, I'll do whatever works to keep me from smoking again! : ) I'm using Chantix, which has helped me a LOT! Until this phase passes, I'll probably keep using it as prescribed. Sorry, Lillyput. Must have missed that post yesterday which is strange as I spent virtually all day on the SSC site and the DC site!! Yes, I've almost stopped taking the Champix altogether now as I was taking only one pill every second day but I notice that I haven't even thought that I needed one in three days. Something is going right. And, to boot, this weekend I was driving for two hours and having dinner out with the family both of which are triggers for me usually. I can't say enough about the efficacy of Champix. I think I've had it easy and, deo gratias, it is my second and final quit in 50 years And, no. I could not be in a room where there were people smoking. Not at this early stage of my quit anyway and it's great because my family have all stopped too except for one nephew. Hi Monkeygirl, I know what your saying this is a tread I posted yesterday to Daily Llama I recall on one of the treads you said you had cut down on the Champix Im just wondering how are you managing has it effected you much do you find the cravings harder to deal with, Ill tell you why I cut down on the Champix also but I had a pretty bad weekend Im not to sure what caused it to be so bad I am not sure if it was because I cut back the tablets anyway On Saturday night I went to visit my mother a few people there where smoking I found this very hard I came home with a cough and sore eyes but also with a terrible urge to smoke I took a sleeping tablet and went to bed. That was bad enough Sunday was mothers day I was spending it with my son, we always watch the soccer together I go to his house for one match and comes to my house for the next one we have been doing this for years during the soccer season It was my turn on Sunday but Ill tell you all I could think about was a cigarette I was depressed and very annoyed because I was like a mad women and about to ruin a nice day with my son all over the cigarettes. I was just wondering is it possible that all the passive smoke affected me just the same as if I had actually smoked myself. I am back on Champix 2 a day Im too scared to take a chance on undoing all this hard work. had the very same thing happen to me at the weekend, (I had serious withdrawl all day Sunday) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/2/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 62 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,860 Amount Saved: 678.90 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 14 Mins: 6 Seconds: 25

This weekend I visited the home of one of my friends who smokes. Her and her husband both smoke in their home. They did not smoke around me or in my presence, but since I was there on Saturday, I swear I can taste it. My cravings have jumped way up. On Sunday and yesterday, it felt like I had just had a cigarette and it would be the most normal thing in the world for me to smoke another one. I even wake up with the taste. I had been using the gum, but have cut back to just two a day. I've been brushing my teeth and using mouthwash like crazy. Any other suggestions or has this happened to anyone else?
