uping meds too much?

I would try the 50 mg. When I went from 50-100mg of zoloft, my side effects weren't too bad. My doctor put me on the 50mg originally because 25mg isn't "therapuetic". I guess she meant that you need atleast 50mg for it to work well.

I was out and about again today. I felt a little dizzy but now it comes when I get out of the car in public. Before it happened when I was driving so I don't know if it is getting worse? I have been taking a bit of zanax but I am scared that this will never go away. What causes this terrible feeling that makes me afraid that I will have an attack before I have one? I don't want to be agrophobic but I am really nervous knowing the nice weather is here and I have to get out of the house in the day. What do you guys advize?

Mel, Use your doctor and pharmacist when cutting back or stepping up. They will be able to advise you of dosages and side effects. Josie _____________________________ The Panic Center Support Team

Hi guys, I replied to another post on here somewhere about medication and dosages but I can't remember where it was! In my personal experience I find that upping my dosage in very small doses is the best way to avoid side effects. Perhaps what you guys are experiencing is just side effects from increasing your dose by a larger amount. The side effects usually go away after about a week I think. If you are like me and hate side effects I would reccommend upping your dose in very small amounts, it just takes a bit longer to get to the final result thats all! Hope this insight helps. :)

Hi Shan, I recently upped my dose of paxil from 10mgs to 20mgs and I feel worse. Like worse side effect, more of the jitters and yes...I have those muscle twitches too. I am not sure if this means the drug is too much for me or if it means I haven't been on the higher dose long enough for the benefits to kick in yet. I have only been on it for 2 weeks. I will wait about month and then I may try to go back down if I feel the same. I too am worried about dropping back down...anyone one have any feedback?

Absolutely! I was going to call my doctor. I would never try to change the dose on my own. Sorry if I gave that impression. I was just wanting to know if anyone else had dealt with this problem and what they were told to do. :)

Hi shan70, I am sure that other members will be responding to your post soon, but I also wanted to suggest that you should follow up with your doctor about these types of medication concerns. Casey ______________________________ The Panic Center Support Team

Express your concerns with the Dr that prescribed your meds. Don't just change on your own. I take a different med and it is available in a 37.5mg dose. So far as the twitching, it could just be a spasm. If it becomes an issue with you, check with your Dr. I have a condition known as Restless Leg Syndrome, (aka RLS). It is mainly an uncontrollable spasm, twitch, or jerking in the legs and feet. But, as in my case, it will sometimes affect me in the arms, face abdomen, and shoulders. It mostly only affects me when I'm at rest or trying to relax. Hope this helps, Della from SC

How do you know when enough is enough when increasing the dosage of an antidepressant? Today marks one week of my taking Zoloft 50mg as opposed to the 25mg I had been taking for six weeks. I don't really notice much difference in the way I feel in terms of anxiety, but I've noticed a side effect I didn't have with the 25mg. I have occasional muscle twitches. Nothing big just slightly annoying. Has anyone ever went up a step in their medication and then backed off because it was more than they needed? I guess what I'm trying to find out is how do you know when a particular medication has done all it can for you? Has anyone had any ill effects from going back down to a lower dose? Am I being impatient? Should I give the 50mg dose a little more time? Sorry for all the questions!! :quest:
