I have never taken Paxil, but I am starting on Lexapro after being off of it for some time. At the first week the side effects kinda suck, but now I am noticing a great relief in the panic attack and anxiety. I do honestly believe you have to give anything about 10 days to see if it is going to work and if the side effects slack off. Sounds like you gave the Paxil a good try but it was just not for you.

Chris, In my experience with Effexor XR, it did not give me energy. I take it before I go to bed with my Trazadone. The combination of both by my Dr, was meant to relax me to get some sleep and relieve my Restless Legs. I am able to sleep of these drowsiness because I take it before bedtime. The XR in the Effexor carries over to the next day to keep my Anxiety at a manageable level. It does not work for the unexpected attacks I might have, as I believe this is the case with most meds. Be sure to keep in touch with your Doc as to your progress or the lack thereof. Your dosage will likely need to be changed, keep a positive outlook toward your recovery. Della

Hi Chris, I am sure that your fellow members on the site will be responding to your post soon with their own experiences with medications, but I just wanted to advise that you should also check with your doctor or pharmacist if you haven't done so already.
