BJ, This is your quit and you must be firm. Express yourself clearly and let them know that it's best for everyone that they don't smoke in front of you. Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

Firstly, a great big congrats for your decision! When it comes to being around smokers, especially early in the quit, I ask myself this question ... If I was a cocaine addict or an alcoholic would it be safe for me to be around other people doing lines of coke or slamming back shooters? No! So why is it safe for me to be around people that are smoking? Just a thought.:quest: Faith My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/23/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 52 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,300 Amount Saved: $624.00 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 23 Mins: 1 Seconds: 55

What's going on there, BJ?? Tell us a bit more about this Aunt and Nana situation and all this smoking in your house; it's really not fair for relatives to play games with your Quit... tell them directly that smoking in your house is not allowed... have they been in here on the SSC? Not sure who you're talking to in your post... Hi. I wish I had Never started.. or stayed quit the first time when I was 30. I know it is you Aunt and Nana, but you need to speak up and tell them you are quitting.. TO please respect you.. and to not smoke in the house. You can do this without disrespecting them. Hey, paula-ICL... This probably makes me a born-again Smoke Nazi, but WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THE SMOKERS??? Like Todash says... show them the back door and tell them that's the only place you allow smoking at your house!! Oh good grief, chuck 'em out in the back yard! Do they know you've quit smoking or just assuming you won't be able to do it? I say it's time to prove them wrong! Stay strong, I want to see a big number 7 on your stats next week. x T My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 407 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,361 Amount Saved: 2,238.50 Life Gained: Days: 34 Hrs: 16 Mins: 35 Seconds: 0

Thanks for all the encouragement. Felt quite spaced out all day, slept much longer than I should! Went for a walk, sucking mint sweets and drinking lots of water. My nana and great aunt called down to my house and I sat in their company while they were smoking for about an hour before I had to excuse myself. I want a cigarette, my heads ok but the horrible feeling in my chest is screaming for a cigarette! There's 2 people smoking in the kitchen now, this is crazy.
