Back again... after a few slips

Carlos, Welcome back or just welcome.... This is your quit and you do whatever you need to... to make it work. I did not tell anyone about my quit, until about day 2... I told my husband & children... I did not tell anyone else because I did not want to be embarrassed if I could not quit... Sounds so stupid now, but it worked for me.. This is a terrible addiction and it is the hardest thing I have ever done... but NOT IMPOSSIBLE!! Have you read the book Allen Carr wrote..Please READ if you haven't... Good luck. Thanks for the support guys! It's really good to have some encouragements from time to time. I've now passed the 5 days mark. As for the person that is offended if I pretend that I did not smoke for a whole month, please don't be offended. It is only a strategy to give myself a psychological edge hence the "fake it until you make it" reference. It's not because I want to lie to myself or anything else. I'll stop using it when I will be smoke-free for 1 month(because I will have made it). Hi Carlos, Good for you for not giving up quitting. What you tell people about your quit time is totally up to you. The most important thing right now is to focus on why you slipped and how you will handle that in the future. The object is to stay smoke free from here on out. Congratulations on your 4 days, soon to be 5. Carlos, that is a big deal! ;) G My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 193 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,790 Amount Saved: $926.40 Life Gained: Days: 19 Hrs: 21 Mins: 56 Seconds: 1

Carlos, Glad to see you back. The past is the past, start fresh and smokefree. Be proud of you and what you have accomplished. The rest is up to you. Although I feel that the truth is always the best way to go. If they are truely your friends, they will try and help you and not give you the "I told you so's". Hang in there, you can do this! Carlos, You are your own judge on your success. Keep learning from each and every slip to help make your quit stronger and stronger. If alcohol is a major trigger for you, maybe you should try to replace alcoholic drinks with non-alcoholic ones until you have some more coping strategies to help with the triggers. Stay strong! Hey Carlos, Penintent was right, but I am not going be as polite. If you are smoking you are not quit. A few slips? Either you are smoking or you are not, there is no in between. You are only hurting yourself, by not being true to you. You are letting the addiction run your life! Do the program, read all the posts. No, quitting isn't the easiest thing in the world, but once you get through the first few days, it gets much better. Close the door on smoking and never look back! That is the best way to get through it. (And throw out any smokes you have in your house!) You can do this Carlos! Go get it! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 331 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,275 Amount Saved: $3,492.05 Life Gained: Days: 43 Hrs: 10 Mins: 46 Seconds: 14

Hi Carlos, Welcome back and congratulations on getting back on with your quit after those couple of slips. Listen, it's your quit and yours alone; you can tell your friends what the hell you like just make sure that you are always honest and true with yourself. Know inside that January was a good effort but not completely clean and let that spur you on to make sure that February is faultless!! Good Luck Penitent d1352 :)

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

17 years ago 0 10 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi guys, I registered here on this website at the end of the year 2007 and it took me a little while to quit. I had some ups and downs, and been smoke free most of January but I had a few slips(when drinking mostly). Last time I had a slip, I was smoke free for 5 days and had 2 cigarettes. I just erased that from my head the next day, and remembered that I cannot just have 1(that's why I had 2 that night), and started over. When I'll wake up tomorrow, I'll surpass the 5 day mark. Now I have a question for you guys. I guess most of you are familiar with the "fake it until you make it" principle. Since the days in January where I did not smoke greatly outweighs the days I did and even if I had some slips I continue on my journey, would you be offended as a quitter/non-smoker if I said that I have been smoke free for the whole month(to my friends and such, just so they don't bother me with things like "oh it's just been 1 week, that's nothing"). I don't really care, but I would like your opinion on it. Anyways, hope you guys have a wonderful day.
