David,
If God brings you to it....He'll get you through it.
You'll never be given more than you can handle. Try praying and asking what it is you are suppose to be learning from this. Ask why you are experiencing it and it just might help.
I just read your water solution. I do the same thing.
It does keep your body busy and that's a good thing.
The colder the better, I feel.
I do not know what you mean about the worm thing. I do see microscopic things in my eyes and have since I was very small, but I have been told this is a physical thing and completely normal.
As far as panic goes, tense situations are the worst.
I remember years ago having to walk along the walls of a department store just to get out of the store. Going in the middle seemed to scary.
Also, driving on dark highways at night: Very bad for me.
Best to have talk radio on or some mood music, preferebly Pink Floyd. :)
On the heavy head feeling, mine often feels like pins and needles and then the body's function of protecting you is the closed-in feeling.
I have realized it's not the end of the world anymore when this happens.
I have been praying the last few days. Seems to be helping. A friend remdinded me to do so on Sunday.
David
Hope some of this helped.
Lilly,
I don't know if your attacks are situational (like my aunt has them only when driving on hills) but mine are totally random. I haven't had any at home alone but I have them for no reason when I'm out. The last big one I had was while having lunch out with my best friend. I told her it was happening and I wanted to get the heck outta there but we decided to just sit through it. I told her if I pass out it's her problem. When we talked about it, it got worse. As soon as she started talking about other things, I was able to slowly put my mind elsewhere and I got through it. Every time you get through one with no bad affects, you get a little stronger. Remember, passing out is the OPPOSITE reaction from panic. Panic is your body gearing up for fight or flight, passing out is your body shutting down. You really CAN'T pass out during an attack. Just tell yourself you are fine, there is nothing to worry about and try to stick it out through it. I often keep a bottle of water with me so I can distract my body from the attack by drinking water so my body can deal with that function.
I start back to school tonight and am wondering how I will do. I am going to keep myself away from the thoughts of panic and just remind myself the class is only 2 hours long and then I can go home again.
Hang in there and keep me posted.
Thank you very much, seattledoll and silnky this is really releiving I was worried it was the first stages of fainting, or i might go crazy and not be able to control my actions any more. Many times i dstract myself when having moderate attacks i actually cannot distract myself when i have huge panic attack where mylegs are shaking and heart is already beating very fast and i am sweating. Anytips how to keep on distracting, because it gives me a releave for only a short period and i start from wre i was, i am also doing the panic programme, its helping me but my problem is that i may be too fast and wanting immedate results
Thank you

Lilly,
Hi. I am not an expert on this problem but I am a person with Panic Disorder that has worked hard to overcome it. Giving in to it will not help you. Exercise will make a huge difference and YOU controlling YOU will beat out IT controlling you. Self talk helps in that you can tell your body it is reacting for no reason and you will not stand for it. I sometimes tell myself "there is no reason to be feeling this way, stop it and move on". You need to distract yourself when an attack comes on. The way this disorder was explained to me by my Dr. (God bless him), is that your body goes into "fight or flight" without stimulation and your brain catches on and can't figure out why your body is having this physiological reaction when it (your brain) hasn't told the body there is a problem. So your brain and body get into a scuffle. Make your brain FORCE your body to "chill out". Let your brain become your best friend and physiological advisor. Let me know how you're doing as you progress? ALso, consider using the program this site offers...it's pretty good.
I think your eye problem may be something to do with the way your vision can be effected by panic. I don't think it is anything to worry about though because I sufer from floaters in my eyes and threads anyway and my optician says its nothing to worry about, that might not be very helpful to you, I just wanted to let you know its not harmful. I get a thick and heavy head also, I think its from trying to relax after feeling anxious, the tension has built up in the muscles in your head and neck, a warm flannel on the back of your neck or someone rubbing your shoulders might help to relax you.
I am feeling two very terrible sensation,
1. is feeling as if there are tinny thread or worms running infornt of my eyes, i see that i do not have this feeling when i am at ease and not anxiious, has any one ever seen this.
2. is after having a panic attack my head feels heavy that i am scared i will make my siutation worse if i moved and remain in bed the rest of the day to avoid any more problems, any advise please let me know.
Thank you very very much
