Did You Know?

Both of my children complained about me smoking but both became smokers as teenagers but they both stopped smoking by the time they were in their early twenties. I followed suit some time after and my partner stopped when he realized I was serious about quitting. It was just easier for him to stop too. Neither of my children smoke. They hated it so bad. In fact when my daughter got married she kept her wedding dress at someone house so it wouldn't smell of smoke. In my family there were 5 of us and 4 smoked. None of the children smoked, but 2 of the theirs do. I think the education that is out there is having some impact. Good for them! I think that will be true of my daughter. My son always complained more than my daughter, but something about it must have appealed to him... "Others have done it before me. The reverse is true for me. My smoking repulsed my kids so much that they couldn't wait to be adult non-smokers! And now they are!!! I may just have done them a favour!!! Penitent d1339 ;)

I have no doubt that these statistics are true. My 15 year old is one of the reasons I've been so determined to make this quit stick. He started sneaking my cigarettes... I do believe that he's learned a lot from my struggle to quit. Did you know that approximately 4000 teens will try their first cigarette today and 6.4 million will have a shortened life expectancy because of this? By quitting smoking you are acting as a role model to your kids, nieces, nephews and friends kids. By sharing your story with them and hardships during your quit you may help motivate them to never start or stop before they are too addicted. Have you had an influence on anyone close to you?
