Yeah, I experienced that when i tried to quit with the patch. Had a rash too. I can't even speculate about what it is, but I had it. Hi there, first congratulations on quitting smoking. I read here once in a while, this site has helped me tremendously, so stay here as long as needed and you will succeed. I quit with the patch, I don't think we can name brands, but I tried with one brand and I had that reaction, wow it was intense, then I switched to the brand, well know from this site, and low and behold nothing no pain, so try it and see. Good luck Marie one day at a time My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 582 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,894 Amount Saved: $3,783.00 Life Gained: Days: 78 Hrs: 8 Mins: 27 Seconds: 23

Hello Kristilu, Years ago, I had tried to quit smoking using the patch. I got a similar kind of reaction as your husband does. For me it was stabbing pains in my arm. Then, I went on to develop welts where the patch would be applied. In the end the result was an allergic reaction to either the patch or the adhesive in it. He should see his doctor anyway just to be on the safe side. Hope this helps. He took it off, he's used the generic kind of patches before and didn't have any problems. This time he wanted to use the name brand and they just made his arm and shoulder hurt. ???? Sounds like an allergic reaction or something not so nice! Best to get it checked! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 317 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,925 Amount Saved: $3,344.35 Life Gained: Days: 41 Hrs: 15 Mins: 42 Seconds: 35
