Hi Thanks so much for your reply. Just nice to hear someone else hears LOUD startling noises at night besides me. My sis hears sirens when there really isnt any and I have also heard what sounded like a car crashing right outside before while napping BUT it wasnt really. Maybe this is caused from an agitated mind...............I dont really know and I hesitate to ask my doctor. haha I know that my ringing and buzzing in my ear are worse when I am having anxiety. Mine is mostly caused by TMJ and my ear tubes not draining right. I know I have had it off and on since I was a child. I have heard it is not serious and usually more of a symptom of something else such as stress, TMJ, tension, ear probs and a few others but do a search on tinnitis and it will tell. Thanks for the reply and let me know how you are doing! Take care! Cj

Hi sweety! I feel for you, I too have problems with ringing or hissing sounds in my ear, doctor said it was caused by stress but its pretty constent and if I don't distract myself I become focused on it and it almost drived me mad. Do you know why you have this rinign/buzzing? With regards to the loud bang you heard, I have had the same thing also, just as I start to fall a sleep I hear a bang and it startles me and makes me want to sit bolt up right, my heart races I feeling tingly all over and the sensations are so intence I have to get up and walk around. Sometimes I hear the bang and other times I don't and wake up with the same sensations. I feel like Im losing my mind worry that Im going insane. Hearing fealing and seeing things that are not really there type thing. Sometimes this happens several times a night to me and I cant get any sleep, end up taking a Xanax at 3 in the morning just to get some zzz. I don't know if your prob and my prob are the same but from what I read it sounds similar. Take care Cassie

LAst night I was laying in bed and had just done my usual relaxation ritual and was MAYBE just starting to drift off and I heard a LOUD noise similiar to a gunshot or canon, then my ear popped. I sat up and looked around, my hubby said he heard nothing. This has happened to me before in this house, maybe 2 other times. We have lived here 4 months. I lived in another house 7 years and never heard anything like this. I have TMJ and constant tension from driving and anxiety mixture. The tension will cause me to become anxious somethimes. My right ear pops alot which started when my father died 2 years ago. I was extremely anxiety ridden for 2 months following his death. My question is: Can anxiety cause us to hear loud noises or make our brain play tricks on us. I may have been just a bit in the dozing off stage as well. It was strange that my ear popped at the same time, but it doesnt hurt. I have been to doc with ear, he gives antibiotics and Decongestant that doesnt help. I have ear buzzing most of the time as well. I dont know if tinnitis can cause loud "bangs" or not. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!! Cj
