I have had severe panic attacks for many years, and I think I'm finally gaining some mastery over them. In the beginning I had every test you can imagine: Ear/Balance Tests, Cat Scans, EKG's, Holter Monitor Tests, Heart Ultrasounds, EEG's, Blood tests, Urine tests..you name it I've had it! *l* I found nothing, and eventually just don't give a **** anymore. So you know what? If something is terminally wrong with me, well I guess I'll die. *L* Everybody does anyhow, so I figure I wouldn't be too freaky if I did. I just got so fed up with panic I stopped caring about it. I honestly think that is the key.

Yakirz, I had that feeling too, tightness in my arm and tingling sensations, also tightness in my chest. My wife has been very understanding thankfully as panic disorder runs in her family as well. But yes sometimes it is hard for others to understand. Sometimes there are times I just can't take anything extra beyond all the sensations I am already experiancing and sometimes the sensations will last all day. I find the long lasting symptoms very unnerving. During those times I try to go for a long walk - 30-45minutes and I usually feel better after that. I have been to see my doctors and have had 2 EKG's (i was not impressed with having my chest shaved!) I am 24 and I was very concerned with the history of heart problems in my family. But I am and always have been very active and am in decent shape still. My doctor assured me it was not at all possible for me to have a heart attack, but it has been hard to convince myself from time to time during a bad episode. I am feeling pretty decent today however.

I also get a tightness in my face and even across the bridge of my nose. Sometimes I think it's sinus or something but I notice it more when I am anxious. I have never had tests done for my physical symptoms but they do seem to go away on their own. I get VERY tight muscles in my neck and shoulders and dizziness or something like it. I am so glad I found this sight. Good luck all and hope you feel better!

Ann it's just the anxiety making your head and eyes feel that way. You'd be suprised the amount of physical pain and discomfort anxiety and panic can cause you. Just when you get over one fear you start on another. At different points in time over the years I think every part of my body has ached or throbbed from stress, anxiety and panic. It is terrible to suffer the way we do, but just try your best to relax.

This type of thing was at the onset of my recent problems, beginning on December 24 last year. I started with a crick in my neck, then it began stretching down my arms and into my chest. I don't have the headache part as often, but I have the muscle soreness. I waited until that Friday, and the pain was still bad, a squeezing pain in my left arm that made me worry about my heart (I have high blood pressure as well, which doesn't help). My doctor suggested I go to the ER, just to be safe, and they did several tests, and said I probably had a pinched nerve. But after that episode, I've been having panic attacks, sometimes all day, almost every day since. I had about 10 days that were good, and then a couple days ago they came back in a bad way  I hope you feel better. I don't know why we have to go through this. People without this problem, though trying to help, often say things like "just don't think about that" when I tell them what's bothering me. Even my wife, who has depression problems of her own, sometimes gets upset when I'm like this and don't want to be teased or played around with. She thinks I'm "whining," when I say I'm really feeling panicky and don't need the stimulation of tickling or a mock pout over what we're having for dinner.

Hi Trish, It is really hard to explain. My forehead goes really tight, and it is like you have stared at something really hard until you have to close your eyes but you havent been staring at all. I hope I dont sound as if I am cracking up. I have noticed that it is worse when I am anxious/panicky though. I just panic that it is some life threatening disease or something serious. I am going to make an appointment with the optician anyway for them to check them out. Why do I always think that these symptoms are something really serious. I always seem to get new symptoms to worry about too. I have wasted 3 years to panic disorder already but feel no further forward than when I had my first attack. I have read numerous books etc. What else can I do? I dont want to waste another 5 minutes to this. Thanks everyone for the support I get from here. It means a lot. xxx

Ann, When I get miagraine headaches, I have to keep my eyes closed, I am very sensitive to light at those times. Also when Im under alot of stress and anxiety, I get gritty eyes, that hurt, almost feels like I slept with my eyelids open all night feeling. One gets extremely bloodshot and hurts along with the gritty feeling. Is this what you are having? Trish

Hi... I've just been through 3 months of really terrible headaches (which i'm still suffering) along with dizzyness, eyelid, jaw, neck and chest spasms and have been generally feeling terrible - I went for an MRI and it was all clear ( I was worried about a brain tumor ) so hopefully I will begin to relax now.... If you're concerned - get it checked out! :) C

Thanks Hopeful224 for your reply and advice. Would the tension cause the problems with my eyes too, as that is what is really freaking me out now. Thanks
