Hey Gin, Last year I was visiting someone in the hospital and put one of those Oxygen sensors on my finger 10 minutes after having two cigarettes back to back. My O2 level was mid 80's. The nurse told me I better take a deep breath before I pass out. A while ago after being smoke free for 4 months I did the same test but this time the readings were low 90's. Later that evening it rose to 97. Not sure what that all means but the nurses say it is huge. Hi Gin, Benefit #1 : Your sense of smell is already improving! I too was shocked at how I must have smelled to non smokers. Theres loads of other benefits you'll find out soon. Plus probably some more weird quitting side effects. Hello Gin, Good for you!!! You're doing great!! The improved sense of smell seems to come right back. I never noticed the smell when I smoked but now I know when they walk into the room after smoking, they don't have to come near me. I too had the dizziness in the first couple of days. I read at the time it could be the result of carbon monoxide leaving your system and more oxygen getting in. It didn't last long, just a couple days for me. Hang in there! Gin Glad to see you getting on so well. Just stay with it and soon the things that seemed so difficult will become a matter of course. Change comes to us when we are most aware that we are changing. Stay with it and always be aware of the good you are doing for yourself... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 303 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,090 Amount Saved: $3,181.50 Life Gained: Days: 55 Hrs: 6 Mins: 50 Seconds: 59

Gin, you've got a lot more oxygen pumping in your veins & less carbom monoxide! & yes you will feel a bit light headed for a while. lasted approx. 2 months for me, tis a bit freaky but just think of all of that extra life giving oxygen you're getting. Hi Gin! Congrats on your first smoke-free day!! Way to go!! Starting off great. Yes, being dizzy is a withdrawal symptom. Your starting to get more oxygen to your brain than your used to. It should only last for a short time while your body adjusts. Just be careful during this adjustment time. I felt dizzy often during my quit. The "spaced-out" feeling hit me shortly after. Thats another withdrawal symptom. Just remember that these are short lived feelings, and you will soon level out and regain SOOOO much more of your senses back! Smell, taste, ect. It's worth it. trust me! Well this morning I didn't have too much of a craving...managed to do without a cigarette, yeah!!! The cravings aren't bad at all this time. It doesn't bother me in the least when co-workers go outside for a smoke and I can't stand the smell of them when they come back in the office. I didn't realize how stinky smoking is. It really reeks. I'm feeling dizzy for some reason...is that part of the withdrawal symptoms?
