Don't know if you take any medication or not, but sice I started Lexapro, if I have more than one drink, my heart kicks up several notches and takes awhile to gradually come down. Odd as alcohol should have the opposite effect.

An occassional beer and wine is okay. Excessive alcohol consumption can most definitely cause an increase in anxiety, especially several hours after drinking. You will experience jitteriness, nausea and a racing heart after an excessive alcohol binge.
