Hi Jiji, I take 50mg Zoloft daily & Xanax as needed, so yes they can be mixed. Also remember it takes some time for SSRI's to get into your system & really work (sometimes up to 4 weeks) so maybe you could talk to your dr about getting Xanax to use during high anxiety times. Good Luck, Chanda

I take 150mg of zoloft daily and .50 Xanax XR and supplement additional Xanax as needed. These have been prescribed by my psychiatrist and I have never had a problem with the combination.

I would say it's probably totally okay to take xanax and zoloft together. After all, the zoloft is just another S.S.R.I. and the two are mixed all the time. If you're unsure, call your pharmacy were you usually get your prescriptions filled. I find the pharmacists are alot of times more knowledgable than the doctors about medications and their interactions.

I will check into that, by the way, it takes about 2 -4 weeks for these SSRI'S to works, sometimes 6 - 8 weeks. So don't think they are not working. I have been taking the Zoloft since Monday & today I felt panicky. So just think positive! (well, as positive as we can, if we thought positive we wouldn't be here! lol) If you need to talk post here. :)

I would check with your pharmcay but I think it might be ok. I just started on Lexapro and my Doc gave me Xanax to take if I have an attack come on. I have taken the two together about 5 times with no problem. I am thinking the Lexapro isn't working but the Xanax is great...just highly addictive. Talkj to your pharmacist (you can probably just call on the phone) and make sure they know of any other meds, supplements, and natural stuff you may also be taking.
