fear of being alone

Hi Katie try staying alone in small increments. One day try 10 min then build it up from there. It takes a while but if you stick to it,it'll work. I've been working on it awhile and I am improving so will you!!

I feel the same way, when my wife goes out with the girls I have a fear that grows the longer shes gone, I feel alone and I'm scared that she'll not be back, or that something will happen. I used to like alone time, but now since I'm having more problems I can't stand it. I push myself to overcome it, because I don't want my wife to suffer because of my worry, but it doesn't always work. I try changing my negative thoughts as often as I can and it makes it bearable, I answer my negative thoughts with positive answers if you will and it takes the edge off. Not sure if its doing any good for the long run, but works for the short term.

I wrote a reply to Deedles last night who, like myself, seems to have an overpowering anxiety about being alone (for some reason it didn't go through). I was just wondering if anyone else felt this way and what helps them cope. It is, by far, my biggest fear. I always have to know where everyone is, can they be reached by phone, can they come over if I need them to, etc. My husband will be starting school in the fall and I am terrified of all the alone time I'll have while he's in class. We'll be in a new city where I don't really know anyone and I don't have a job yet which is just adding to my anxiety. Any words of assurance or helpful hints would be appreciated. katie
