Hi,
Just wanted to tell you about my experience with an SSRI. It was Paxil. Taking this drug only made me feel worse. I developed more anxiety.
My Dr. told me to keep taking it because it takes time to start to work, but when I contacted the Pharmaceutical co. who made the drug, they told me that they have found in their studies that when it causes more anxiety that that is a symptom that usually doesn't go away after a few weeks. I ended up with horrible side-effects from this drug and almost ended up in the hospital. All of this shook up my confidence and made my panic-disorder worse.
If you have some questions about any medication that you are taking, call the Company who makes it. They will connect you to the customer service dept. and they will give you all the info that you need about the drug. Tell them about the side effects that you are having too.
I was told from the maker of Buspar (which is an anti-anxiety drug that blocks seratonin) that there are two seratonin receptors in the brain, one for anxiety and one for depression. Too little seratonin can cause depression and too much can cause anxiety. So that may be why an SSRI makes you have more anxiety.
Do your research about this yourself. It's worth it.
