Tryagain,
Your still having a hard time? Wow. I think of it off and on durring the day. They are basically thoughts. Nothing that ruins my day. Somedays I barely think about it and that gives me the glimmer of hope of what my life will be like when all the dust finally settles.
I think your mind has fallen into a bad habit. Instead of you controlling your thoughts....it is controling you. Maybe some people naturally do it better than others.
I read somewhere ( a long time ago) that in a quit if this happens to put a rubberband on your wrist. Everytime the thought comes up snap the rubberband. The brain learns to associate a yuck thing with the cigarette thought. I hear it works.
I'm gonna see if I can find anything on the internet to help you with this. You have come so far. I hate to see you needlessly suffer.
Mercy

Hmmmm. I think about smoking constantly. Since you brought it up, maybe its not really cravings, but just thoughts. Although sometimes those thoughts make me want to take my head off. One thing I don't have is the thought that one cig will be okay, I can have one. That I have been thankfully free of. Lots of times I think about junking the whole quit! When I get really stressed I think it's not worth what I'm going through especially since there has been no relief for MONTHS. I had a couple of days early on that were better than this.

This is a really good post.
I was away last week on a conference, staying in hotel rooms - I thought my craves suddenly took a nose-dive for the worst - and then realised these were not craves at all, just thoughts or associations as in my previous life I would be planning ways to get out and have a smoke.
It was a really hard test for me, and the thoughts felt almost physical, but thankfully I have remained smoke-free.
I just can't wait for the day when these thoughts don't attack so harshly - yeah I was able to push them out of my mind and they would go, no problem, but they were back every half hour or so and quite intense.
Now I'm home again, they are almost non existant...
