Well, I think part of the trouble is that I live alone and I'm afraid to go out in the evenings at the moment because almost all my friends smoke. So I've been sitting around feeling miserable with no-one to chat to for the last two nights. I'm glad I've found this site though, it's good to read the posts and it gives me something to take my mind off the cravings. Beverly, Glad you are feeling better. As your fellow members stated this is quite common among new quitters and it will pass. Hang in there! Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Bev, a lot of people have experienced the same thing as you are right now. I know that for about the first couple weeks I was an emotional roller coaster! Crying one minute and laughing till I cried the next. Your body is going through withdrawl. Please make sure you drink lots and lots of water as this will help your body rid itself of the toxins....and remember your not alone! ?Lolo My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/24/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 58 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,160 Amount Saved: $261.00 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 18 Mins: 18 Seconds: 17

Hi Beverley and welcome to SSC. Congratulations on your decision to stop smoking. What you are feeling is one hundred percent normal. The first three days are the hardest, so just hold on tight. I promise it gets a lot better very soon. If you haven't already, working through the quit program tools on the left side of this screen will help you a great deal. Come to the site often during the first week, post and read old posts. Chewing gum, suck on hard candy, rest, and drink lots of water. Mostly, just take very good care of yourself during this difficult time. Let us know if there's anything we can to do encourage or help you. Hi, This is my second day without smoking and I'm already finding it extremely hard. The worst part is that I seem to be feeling extremely unhappy and am constantly on the verge of bursting into tears - which is very embarrasing as there isn't any logical reason for me to be so upset. I didn't expect to feel so depressed and I'm getting worried about it.
