Amazing-It's working!

MyLast, Thanks for the inspiration and something to look forward to! I'm still working on my first week, and after 4 days I'm finally able to put my mental dukes down a little. So glad to hear that it gets better soon! Taking it one day at a time (and even enjoying parts of it:) mk My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 60 Amount Saved: $14.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 35 Seconds: 4

That's awesome mylast. It's sort of like having a 60lb weight off your back. I never realized how much I thought about smoking until I quit. It actually strengthened my resolve though because now I had all that room to think about other, better things! Congrats on nearly a MONTH! Cigarettes Not Smoked

I wish I could explain how much better it gets. It is amazing how little I think of smoking and how nothing the thought of smoking is to me. I'm not foolish enough to think I can stop fighting it, but I take a lot of comfort and encouragement from the progress that's made everyday. At the beginning of the quit, you are almost constantly thinking about it. At about one month, I found that when a trigger came along, it wasn't automatic - it gets delayed. I still have many smoking thoughts throughout the day, but they are just that - a thought that pass through, and then is gone. You are doing great! You're right, it does get better. Most amazingly, this morning I woke up and my first thought wasn't about smoking. I did though think about how I didn't think about one on the way to work. Huh! You understand? It does get better Newbies!
