The world would be amazing if we each gave what we could! Great post, Bob. I'm with Pen and GMan, optimism is the way. -Pen, if I promise to be optimistic, will you pull me in? :) Not cravin', never cavin'. Bob, Wonderful post as usual! Really hits home! Thank you. Pen, your analogy of the two people outside the lifeboat is phenomenal! Wow! Crave the Quit! It is nice to see some really outstanding people post to this thread. Leadership has to be there for the new quitters to realize that they too can quit smoking and beat the nicotine addiction. Pen I thank you and Golferman keep visible you both have so much to offer. Nice post Duffis but for all the words typed here I too would concentrate on just those 21 highlighted by Golferman and recommend that others here do the same. It's a great quote and very powerful. Unfortunately, some quitters are pessimistic and by their very nature repel those who are trying to help. They probably don't realise they are doing it because they are so caught up in their own malaise. If one is trying desperately to get into the lifeboat while another is kicking against it, I know which one I will pull in first it's the one I always pull in first, the optimistic one who attracts help and resource. Bob, To quote your quoted quote: Optimistic people attract help and resources into their life. Pessimists repel those who may be in a position to help them. To take this to the realm of smokers, a smoker is a pessimist and the quitter is the optimist. The hard core smoker is convinced that his choice to smoke is his and his alone and he isnt harming anyone, let alone himself. Those who know better attempt to show the smoker the futility of his logic, only to be repelled by the smokers blind devotion to his addiction. The individual who quit smoking has expanded his world and his knowledge. He knows the falsehoods of smoking and has made the decision to cast aside his old weakness to his addiction and has embraced the truth. He has regained his life by allowing others, more wiser than he, to lead him out of the dark and into the light. Good stuff Bob!! Be Strong. Be Smart. Be Quit Joe Knowledge Replaces Fear Hoping for success without hard work is like trying to harvest without planting. Illegitimus non carborundum est My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/15/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 757 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 18,925 Amount Saved: $1,854.65 Life Gained: Days: 136 Hrs: 0 Mins: 33 Seconds: 7
