missed heart beats please help

Hi Gayl, I also experience weird heart beats where I feel them very strongly in my throat and base of neck. They are mainly noticed when I'm laying on my left side and as soon as I roll over they disappear. Ive been to a cardiologist and was advised this is quite normal, however suffering from Anxiety/Panic my Dr is sending me to get a Holter Study this week, just to put my mind at ease. With all symptoms once I have had some tests done I usually find that the symptom disappears as I now have the evidence to prove that there is nothing wrong with me and to let it go. I have never taken any medication for my Anxiety/Panic and am one of the "lucky" ones that can get through without it. I'm sure you're heart is ok, especially since you have had the holter monitor that should be reassurance enough to stop concentrating on the heart beats and more then likely they will subside. Hope this helps. Donna

Hi Gayl, I get runs of those heartbeats too. Sometimes they are so strong it feels like my heart is flipping over in my chest. I know they are harmless, and they always pass. Just wanted you to know you're not alone with this symptom. Hang in there!

Gayl, I get them too, but can control them substantially. First, when you haven't had them for an hour and then think about it, your scanning your body for it and will find just about any symptom you are searching for. To stop the palps, when you start getting an episode, (dont know if your a woman), bear down real hard as you do when birthing a child, or bear down as if you are using the small abdomenal muscles in having a bowel movement. Keep doing this and it will quit. I have had the cardiac neurosis, holter monitors, echos, cardiologists, etc., same as you. This tip was given to us at a support group that I used to attend, it does work. Or if you can make yourself cough real hard for about 5 times, it works the same way. Trish
