Welcome There are of course, instructions on the package as to where the patches. I wear mine on the upper part/front of the thigh and it seems to work fine for me. Congrats on your decision to quit. One day at a time. Thank you so much for your condolences!! I do have 1 question though, to anyone who wants to answer it. We are allowed to wear sleevless shirts to work, is there anywhere else SAFE to wear the patch besides your arm, so that it's not on "display" to the rest of the world?? Hi and Welcome, Monkee Congratulations on your decision. And congratulations and condolences to your husband, too. As someone else said, each of you need to treat your quits as your own, while supporting each other. Josie made a great suggestion the other day for someone else who was dealing with that same "break time" issue. She suggested a "Break Basket" I guess you could have a basket or bag or pocket or whatever with treats for yourself. Candy, Gum, Word Finds, Juice, Water, a book with funny stuff - cartoons, quotes, etc. The point being, something to reward yourself with, like you used to with cigarettes. Also, a quick walk around outside never hurts : ) Stay close here, we are all rooting for you and your husband to make it -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 66 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,640 Amount Saved: $448.80 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 7 Mins: 11 Seconds: 17

I hope you and hubby will be very patient with each other. Since everyone's quit is different, one may be having a really good day while the other may be experiencing cravings. Just understand where the other may be coming from, and even tho it may be "touchy" for a little while, in the end it will all be worth it. Yes, you want to have each other around for the rest of your lives...so a few weeks or months to find your non-smoking selves isn't so much to ask, right? Stay strong, it will get better! Thank you so much!! Like I said, I feel I can really do this. We tried the "cold turkey" method Twice, and we were at each others throats after just 1 week. We thank Everyone for their support. Hello and welcome to SSC! You have found a great place for support! Also, on the left hand side of your screen is a program that you may want to check out. It was a real benifit to me. You and your husband can do this! I was also worried about weight gain. Before I quit I had been working really hard at dropping weight. I had lost around 20 pounds when I quit smoking. I knew that a lot of people want to eat more when they quit smoking... and I had also read that our metabolism slows down for a few weeks after we quit smoking. So, I decided I needed to walk more and add lots of water to my diet... and not trade smoking for eating. In other words I didn't need to eat just to fill the void of not smoking. I am now over a month quit... and haven 't gained any weight. Acutally, I lost another 5 pounds to reach my goal weight. Now, quitting smoking should be of top concern for you right now. Do not sacrifice your quit because of weight gain. If you gain weight it can be lost again. Right now focus on what you need to do to stay smoke free. Read lots, post lots, work the program on the left side of your screen, drink LOTS of water (whenever I thought I wanted a cig I would get a cold water... it not only helped with my cravings, it also helped with not gaining weight AND cleaning the toxins out...) a lot of people use sugar free gum and/or candy... You can do this and we are all here to cheer you on!!! Hello Everyone. Today is Sunday May 27, 2007 1:05 P.M. My husband and I both started the Step 1 patches this morning. After feeling a little dizzy at first, I feel FOR THE FIRST TIME that I can actually do this!! I have smoked since October of 1998 after I was robbed at gunpoint at work. The stress wore me down BAD, and I don't drink because I can't stand the smell or taste of Alcohol of any kind, so I started smoking. My father smoked for years after enlisting in the Army and going to Vietnam, but made himself quit after my brother was born in 1980. I am SO proud of him for that and I want him to be proud of me for doing the same. I hope that only 8 1/2 years hasn't done too much damage to my body, but I need to be realistic. I'm scared to death of gaining alot of weight, but so far I don't really feel the need to snack. Another thing I'm worried about is my Break times at work. We get a break every hour, and that's my usual smoke time. My husband has smoked for 26 years, since he was 16. His mother just passed away a week ago from last Wednesday from Lung Cancer, but she quit smoking a long, long time ago. I'm more worried about him "slipping" than myself. He has already been diagnosed with Emphysema, and I want him with me for alot longer than just another 5 or 10 years. I hope this is possible. We are from South Charleston, WV and hope to hear from everyone soon. Thanks for listening to my story.
