Pat, believe me that I know how it feels when you finally get a diagnosis and can then move on with your life and your treatments. My sister and I both live with autoimmune diseases. You sound like you have a wonderful and positive attitude. There are online support groups that can be very helpful, and you will find, like at SSC, that you can be helpful of others as well. ~~~~Lupus~~~~ I found out yesterday that I have Lupus for sure and now, finally I can get the medical testing and medications I need to start feeling even better than I have from quitting smoking! Apparantely, I've had it for many, many years but my smoking has masked it. I started smoking when I was 17. My skin first broke out in rashes just a few weeks later. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. Over the years Ive had a history of odd unexplained symptoms and individual medical problems that have come and gone. Nothing to stop me in my tracks, but the list is almost endless. I was not a hypochondriac, and seldom went to see a doctor, but I never really felt 100 % well and thought this was just "normal" for me. When I was a smoker, I always put at least some of the blame for my symptoms on my heavy smoking. I was told I had allergies, eczema, years later psoriasis was added. My stomach problems were explained as IBS, female problems or bad diet. My aching, swelling and morning stiffness was diagnosed as Fibromyalgia 14 years ago. The lung, kidney and organ infections and conditions were treated individually and no doctor ever put the whole picture together until now. Many, many doctors told me to quit smoking and I would feel better. Finally I did, and now I will. Ive been living with incomplete medical diagnosis since I first started smoking all those years ago. Wow...another reason why I'm so glad Ive stopped smoking and started living again! Pat N.O.P.E.
