Hey Princess, To answer your question, when you go off the patch, yes you do go thru withdawal, but at a significantly lower rate than if you quit cold turkey. For example, by the time you got down to the third level (7mg) patch, its only about the equivalent of about 4 cigarettes. Quite different than 25 or more. So yes you do go through it, but with milder symptoms as compared to those who quit cold turkey. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 78 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,950 Amount Saved: $822.90 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 14 Mins: 15 Seconds: 34

I'm no expert on patch usage, since I quit cold turkey, but from my research and from being on this site, it seems as though it's not QUITE as bad. There are over 4,000 chemicals in cigarettes... probably more than just nicotine is addictive. So, you have already quit the other chemicals and now just have the nicotine withdrawal to deal with. Yes, nicotine is highly addictive and coming off of it is not easy, but it shouldn't be as hard as in the beginning. You will probably have a few rough days, but as others have said, you have already broken the "habit" part of the addiction and the hand to mouth action. Now, you're just dealing with the physical aspect. And as almost everybody agrees, this addiction is about 90% mental and 10% physical... you have dealt with most of the mental stuff already and now just have the physical - 10%! Congrats on your first day nicotine free and here's wishing you the best in all of you nicotine free days to come! Crave the Quit! ive always wondered about that too.....when u quit the patch do u still have to go through the physical cravings? not that i ever got that far with the patches...but I'm always curious. Oh, one day early. That's not such a big deal. Hope I didn't sound too sanctimonious in my earlier reply. From my last long quit with the patch, I remember the first few days having a few short, fleeting easy to deal with habit-type cravings after I stopped. No really bad ones, no crabbiness, it was pretty easy. I think it's because there is so much less nicotine in your system than if you were still smoking & you've had all that time to break the hand-mouth part of it. I did have a really really itchy head for awhile :confuse: &!some weird dreams. Keep posting, good luck being nicotine free! just to let you know im still here. i didnt quit the patches that early. im on the habitrol patch program and you use the 21 mg for 1 month, then 14mg for 2 weeks then 7mg for 2 wks which i did. the only thing is instead of using my last one on monday morning i quit a day early. am wondering if when your a patch user and quit do u still have the 3 day thing before all the nicotine is out of your system? do u still have to go thru what the people that quit cold turkey do? or is that pretty much over with when using the patch? Hi Princess, I quit early myself weeks before I was suppose to and it did feel horrible. I know what your feeling all too well but keep in mind it will pass. I was quite moody and irratable for about 2 days and then it was as if I never smoked. You have an impressive quit there and after these couple of days pass you'll feel even stronger about your quit!! Unhooked Your also doing great on your quit and attitude on getting past hell week congratulations to both of you!! What made you decide to quit the patch early, Princess? I hope it works out for you but I have to say, I've used them several times & it works best when you do the whole program. As long as you're sure you're ready & it isn't the junkie in your head trying to make you vulnerable again. Pulling for you!
