Hey Minx Congratulations on your decision! What a great birthday present to yourself! I'm a chantix user, had smoked for 36 years, and was smoking 2 or more packs a day too. I had tried many other methods of quitting, and this time it is working..chantix + ssc...a winning combination. The unfortunate thing for you, and many of us, is that this site is going to be down Wednesday for 8-10 hours. I didn't find this site until day 2 or 3 of my quit, but it sure did help me get through those early days (still does). I was glued to it. It's great that you're using the Quit Tools to the left. I never saw the workbook until a few weeks ago....I think my brain was too addled at first to notice it....lol I planned my quit so I didn't have to do much the first 3-4 days, and was hoping to sleep through much of it, but that didn't happen. But what did happen was I breathed deeply..a lot...drank tons of water and juice, had lowfat snacks around to put in my mouth when I just had to have SOMETHING, read and posted here, and now I've got over 50 days smoke-free, am much more active than I have been during the past few years, am much more pleasant to be around nose-wise, and have faith that I will never smoke again. There are so many people and stories here that can inspire and encourage and inform you. We'll see you Wednesday night or Thursday HAPPY BIRTHDAY! -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 54 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,192 Amount Saved: $367.2 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 13 Mins: 1 Seconds: 14

Today is my 12 day on chantix. I am very proud to say that I have been smoke free for 5 days now. It should have been 6 days but I gave in at work but it was only 1 and after i lit it i did not want it and put it out. Thank you all for the warm welcome and the birthday wishes. I'm sitting down today to start working through the workbook and plan on doing a lot of reading. As everyone seems to be saying, while the Chantix is helping me physically, my BRAIN keeps saying "Iwannacigarette,Iwannacigarette...." so I'm going to start following your program/preparing for Wednesday. Thanks again and congratulations to all of you who have already quit! I imagine you're very proud (you should be) and I'm looking forward to being there.

Hello Minx and Cricket!! This site is awesome support, I only wish DH and I had found it earlier. I am on day 11 of chantix, and when I started I didn't want to quit, I did it because of DH - terrible I know, but by the end of that week I did want to quit. Cigs tasted terrible, they were a pain, no one around me smokes, etc....and I would keep thinking of reasons to quit, not on purpose they would just pop into my head. We are on day 11 now and I rarely think about smoking. It would have helped me more if I changed my triggers sooner though. Try smoking in different places you won't go back to when you quit, change your routines and triggers now and it will help you later. I feel great, you will too. there are some awesome posts in coping with cravings and withdrawal section, in particular one by Rusty, check those out if you need help and check in here, it is that constant reminder we need and the support is amazing. :) Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 114 Amount Saved: $19.25 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 2 Mins: 5 Seconds: 20

Hi & welcome! I am taking Chantix also, and am on my 5th week. I am 3 weeks nicotine free today, and found the Chantix to really help. A LOT. I am a 2-pack-a-day smoker also, for over 25 years. I know you can do it, and what a great day to quit smoking on your birthday! At 2 packs a day, you can reward yourself with a nice vacation for your next birthday on money you used to smoke. Hi Minx and Cricket, too. Welcome to the wonderful world of quitting! I'm a Chantix user too. It really is terrific. BUT you still need to want to quit more than you want to smoke. It's still a mind game - you have to retrain your brain and body to do things without smoking. But it can be done and if you read around the site you'll see people with years on there quit meters. Lots of good info here, do the workbook, track your habits and triggers, read, read, read and get ready to approach FREEDOM! The good news is that with Chantix you are going through a lot of the physical withdrawal before you actually quit. Be prepared to nurture yourself next week and don't be surprised if you are more tired than usual and need extra down time. It's part of the healing process. You can do it! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/29/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 44 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 539 Amount Saved: $179.52 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 3 Mins: 50 Seconds: 4

Welcome Minx and Cricket and congratulations on your decision to quit. I used Chantix in my quit and it really helped me. Have you used the Quit Program Tools to the left? I found it to be very helpful. Everyone here is great and they provide a lot of support. Congratulations and good luck! Minx, Happy Birthday on Wednesday!
