Just be determmined & with the right attitude you will be able to start this journey of being a non-smoker. I smoked 35 yrs.+, & have felt alot better the last 34 days of my quit. The first week I could breathe better & taste better. Use all the tools on this site, post & read, you will get quite an education about smoking here. It's all true. You just have to decide that the time has come. You've set a date and you've got the medication now you have to take the plunge and you will feel great for doing it. Good luck tomorrow. Hey scaredycat Sure you can do it.If a 50+ year smoker can do it so can you.Why not quite right now. Sounds to me like you gotta change some habits here. You can,t smoke if you,ve got no ashtray to dump the ashes in ??? Unless your dropping them on the floor ?? How about removing all the ashtrays for a starter ?? ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 28 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 511 Amount Saved: $280 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 17 Mins: 5 Seconds: 8

Tryagain, you are too funny.
No one has yet to come up with a method of quitting that involves continuing to smoke.
Seriously scaredycat, the secret? Just don't light up! It's that easy...did I say easy? It's the toughest thing you may have ever done. Your name says it all, stop smoking for a little while and see if you want to change your name...from scardeycat to something more like ToughCat, or TopCat, or StrongCat, FearlessCat, or NonSmokingCat. We'll still be here to help you through it. No one has yet to come up with a method of quitting that involves continuing to smoke. At some point, you have to just not have that next cigarette. Look at the tools on the left side of your screen and use them. Read all the posts here and marshal your own "quit kit". Hard candy, chewing gum, straws, whatever might work. Plan on drinking a lot of water. Welcome, it can be done, you can do it.

Hi! I have been on Chantix for 14 days and haven't quit yet. I seem to be able to go hours without smoking, then I have to do something at the computer or the phone rings.... you know the stuff. I have smoked 2-3 packs a day for 30 years. I need to get the nerve to end this insanity and just quit. I have picked tomorrow, April 19th in my head. Can I really do this? Any good advise?
