What's So Good About Quitting?

18 years ago 0 848 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Well, here in the northeast US we're being hit by a nor'easter with torrential rains, wind, flooding in areas. And on the TV news they mentioned some schools/govt offices might be closed or have delayed openings tomorrow. And suddenly it hit me ... I don't have to worry about having enough cigs to get me through tomorrow, anymore! What a nice, relieved feeling it is. Yessss! The best things about quitting. Hmmm, let's see. 1) I don't worry all the time anymore about getting lung cancer. That went through my mind every time I lit a cigarette. And that was 25-30 times a day!!!! 2) I don't smell like smoke anymore and I don't have to saturate my coats in febreeze every day either! 3) I have met some wonderful friends here at SSC, and if I hadn't quit, I probably wouldn't be here! 4) When I'm talking on the phone to my sister, I don't have to "hide" the fact that I'm smoking. She could always "hear" me over the phone. 5) The pride I feel in myself. My family are proud of me and I love to hear them say so. Even though they complain that I'm still moody sometimes. And I say to them, "suck it up, princesses!!!!" I'm happier every day! Sometimes this journey can be tough, but there's soooo much satisfaction in kicking Ol' Nick to the curb. Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 92 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,786 Amount Saved: $828 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 10 Mins: 35 Seconds: 42

I do like smelling good. I even rewarded myself today with bath and bodyworks products. What is really making me laugh is all of the closet smokers in this thread. I was one also....LOL We should have a closet smoker club!
