The patch

For me smoking was me trying to chase death. Ive since stopped and started playing Russian Roulette every monring. Sound Stupid? Of course it does, but smoking is just as dumb. Remeber that! Ok So im 6 days deep on the patch. Im sure its helping me but the true addiction is the everyday routine. After eating, in the morning with coffee, ect ect. Youll find yourself thinking it's time for smoke still, like pavlov's dogs. Try to devolop new habits. I have a mint of sugar free candy after meals. When it's time for a smoke break at work I go with my co-workers. BUT instead of smoking I keep my distance andc enjoy some nice fresh air. Listen up my friend....you DO have willpower cause you have decided to STOP this insanity of smoking! There is NOTHING chicken about using NRT!!!! The reason I say this is cause NRT will NOT be the deciding factor in your quit.....YOU will be! Your commitment and determination is what will see you through. That patch is sort of like a security blankie.....it takes the "edge" off of your craving. It becomes as large a blanket as you need at any given time....but YOU are the one who doesn't light up.....YOU are the one who "chooses" to not smoke. BELIEVE in yourself!! and does your question make sense??? of course it does....it mirrors my own thinking when I quit. I used the patch too. Some of used to chuckle and say we rubbed our patch when faced with cravings....it was sort of our "genie in the bottle"???? use the patch according to the directions....don't try to make up your own rules for it....follow what the pkg says (you may lengthen each step if you feel shakey about the stepdown) It will work....it will help you....believe it and go forth and KICK BUTT Katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1941 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 77,652 Amount Saved: $11063.7 Life Gained: Days: 256 Hrs: 0 Mins: 33 Seconds: 25

need2quit, I have quit many times and for me it is the DEEP ingrained HABIT that is the real hard thing to give up. (for the most part) It is called triggers...and those triggers are everywhere. Using the patch takes the edge off so you can learn to live life without smoking. Then when you feel better about doing things in life smoke free you can concentrate weaning off the patch. If you do the patch program...follow it to the T. Need2quit, Our members will be along shortly to share their experiences. While you wait, take advantage of our search engine and quit program to learn more about patch use. Obviously, you have what it takes! You've already quit and have kept it up for 4 whole days! Danielle ______________________ The SSC Support Team

Hey Needtoquit! Its not about willpower! So don't worry about that! There's lots of patch users here, I am one of them. The theme seems to be, follow the course of the program. I have about 2 weeks or so left of patches, and I will follow that through with them. The best thing you can do for yourself is read posts on this site, the more you can the better, and the sooner you can the better! There is so much helpful information here it will wow you! It has been an amazing help to so many people! Best of Luck! Smoking is not an option! NOPE :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 53 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,346 Amount Saved: $559.15 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 12 Mins: 3 Seconds: 32

The patch is the route i've decided to take because I have a really hard time dealing with cravings. I'd love to hear about any of you that have used this method and how it helped you.....I know alot of this is in my head, and I'm the sort of person that is...succeptable to suggestion I guess. If I know that it has done certain things for people I am able to tell myself it's working for me too...does this make sense to anyone? lol The truth is, I'm scared to admit that I simply don't have enough will power to do it alone.
