Tryagain - You are so inspiring. I can only imagine what you are going through right now, yet you keep on fighting & surviving. You have continued to work, you are supporting your son, and you are holding on to your quit. You said that 1/3 of your family was wiped out. I hope in some small way the SSC feels like some sort of family to you. Sending thoughts and prayers your way! Hey, I'm still here. Still not smoking although I surprise myself. I think I've hit the 60 day craves on top of everything else. They aren't the most pleasant. My son and I are going to wait a week before we start going through Dad's things. That will get me over the 60 day hump and we should all be doing better.

tryagain, I am so very sorry for your loss and all that you have gone through. I can only imagine your emotional state at this point and I think that, if placed in your position I would do whatever is necessary to stay quit. If it means increasing your nrt or whatever to get through this extremely rough spot then do it. You are the judge of what you require -- Go with your gut instinct hon... and know that we are here for you. Sending you love and hugs of support..... Tryagain, you are heroic! I can only imagine the pain of what you are going through, and your strength about not smoking is inspirational. With all you have to think about, your quit is on your mind! I hope your son knows what an exceptional Mom he has! God bless you. If everything was not bad enough. I was shaving the face of a really really intense poodle who turned suddenly and bit the clipper which cut the dog's mouth quite badly. I am so glad today is over. I can't communicate how happy I am to have it done and gone.

Tryagain, Learn from this experience. Start trying to implement new coping strategies such as journalling, walking, listening to music, talking to a friend and keep trying to use the NRT as a last resort for this trigger. Be patient with yourself. Learning new coping strategies takes time and practice. Danielle ____________________ The SSC Support Team
That's my decision, rationally and logically. I may be wrong. I am probably most certainly wrong, but I will not smoke.
If you're not smoking, then you're not wrong here. What you went through is traumatic and extremely hard to deal with... whether you smoke or not. If you have to use a couple more pieces of nic gum to get through, then do that. BUT, really watch your intake on those as well. When I say "a couple," I mean one or two extra. Otherwise, you'll get into a situation where your nicotine level is so high that coming off the nic will be REALLY hard. I don't envy you during this time. This must be rough. I understand your pain and hope that everything goes alright. It sounds like you've made the rational decision that whatever you do, you will not smoke. THat's what it takes to make it. Life will crap all over you at times... whether you smoke or not. Dealing with life on life's terms is what makes us truly free from this addiction. You're almost there. Don't give up! Crave the Quit!
