Same as Rainie. Lose the false expectations and make your quit free of conditions. However it goes, accept that as the price of a new life... and set yourself to the business of living. I don't want to be a Smoker, so when the thought (trigger/crave/emotion) or whatever you want to call it comes knocking...I take a deep breath and remember something I learned right here N.O.P.E. :) It's been 3 months since I first read that little acronym...and it just stuck with me. It's posted at my PC and at my dining room table. I have not smoked thanks to the originator of this. I can't remember who it was. Sorry! auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 85 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,283 Amount Saved: $403.75 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 18 Mins: 53 Seconds: 22

Make a list of the disadvantages of smoking and the benefits of you quitting and re-read them often to keep yourself motivated. I have learned that if it is going to be it is up to me. There is no magic button to make smoking or rather not smoking completely pain free. But, look at some of those meters....is SO CAN BE DONE My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 61 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,231 Amount Saved: $251.32 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 3 Mins: 47 Seconds: 40

This one concept has been really helpful (especially at "tough" moments): You experience more cravings when you're a smoker than when you quit. As a smoker, you start craving a cigarette within 20 minutes of finishing your last smoke. As a non-smoker, your cravings are occassional and continusously go down in frequency. My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/24/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 31 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,104 Amount Saved: $201.5 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 15 Mins: 44 Seconds: 6

this comment from August:
1. I HAVE MADE A CHOICE TO END MY SLAVERY. I made this choice while I was logical, level headed and KNEW from the bottom of my soul how much I wanted to me a non-smoker. While I am in withdraw/recovery, I am not being logical or level headed. When I want to smoke, I must remember that I made this decision (once again when I was being logical) and should trust myself to stick with it. I have tasted freedom before, and I know I can again. No matter what anyone says, NO one actually ENJOYS smoking. The enjoyment is the momentary relief from a constant craving for a cigarette. It might FEEL like you enjoy it, but you DON'T. You are a trapped slave lying to yourself. I told myself this for many years...
