I've just be given Lexapro today and am starting on 10mg, this is to replace Remeron. I am also taking Wellbutrin and Leprexa tho. I will let you know how it goes in a bit. Let us know how you do on it too.

That's just a temporary side effect, which will go away soon. I had a slight 'speedy' effect from starting Lexapro and it happened again for a short time when I increased the dose, but it only lasted a few days and was worth it in the long run for sure. This med has helped me alot, more than the others I've tried. Good luck and stick with it, it will no doubt pass!

Hi, My Dr. just started me on Lexapro for PMS. I have a lot more anxiety around my period. I couldn't take Zoloft, it made me feel worse. I increased my dose from 1/4 to 1/2 of a pill and I felt very anxious today. Anyone have a similar experiance? Does it go away? Thanks for your advice. :quest:

I tried Lexapro for awhile, after getting diminishing results from Prozac. But Lexapro costs $50 per refill on my insurance, and there's no generic. Fluoxetine, generic Prozac, is $10 per refill. I'm not getting as much help from the Prozac as I was from the Lexapro, but I can't afford the extra $40, either.

Now the exact opposite thing happened with me! I took Zoloft for about 3 weeks last year and I never, ever felt hungry, I would notice that I was in danger of passing out from lack of eating before I would remember to eat! And I love to eat! It was the first and only time that I ever went to the ER, because I couldn't stand up, I was so weak. Started Lexapro 3 months ago and it's really helped me with very small side effects that passed quickly. You're right, what works for someone may not for someone else, but don't let that discourage you, meds can be a great relief to you when you find one that works!

Lexapro was a bad choice for me. I was on Zoloft for a year and thought it made me gain weight so my Dr. switched me to Lexapro (5 mg). I couldn't sleep and the sexual side effects were horrible. The panic attacks slowly started to return. I was on the Lexapro for several months. Over that several months, I felt really anxious most of the time. I have started taking zoloft again and am slowing tapering off the lexapro. Just after a few days of being back on zoloft, I've noticed a big difference in my thoughts - the constant worry is starting to diminish. Everyone is different, so hopefully the lexapro will work for you. For me, however, the zoloft is a much better choice. I don't notice any side effects with zoloft except for the weight gain, which was only about 5 lbs. but I'm a person that tries very hard to stay thin. I think I can deal with the 5 lbs. if it means no panic attacks!! :o)

Hi, I'm Lexi. I've been on Lexapro for about 8 months now for generalized anxiety disorder with panic episodes. My dosage is 10mg daily, but your doctor may decide on something different. Lexapro is not a fast-acting med. It takes about 3 months to fully kick in, and even then, you don't feel like "wow" or anything. It is very subtle, but you should notice your level of anxiety is decreased and that you are able to cope with situations in a more rational manner. However, Lexapro does not necessarily prevent setbacks of panic. I currently am having a setback with my panic, and have been taking small doses of Adavan to try and calm myself down a bit. Still, it is a struggle. But I had a good, 8 month run of no panic or bad anxiety on the Lexapro and that was a start. Remember, beating this is a process. Med and dosage juggling, along with different kinds of therapy are all part of healing. Best wishes, you can do this!

Has anyone taken this? I am going to start taking it tonight for panic and depression and was looking for other's experiences with it. I heard it makes you very tired. :confuse: I appreciate all feedback on this medicine! Thanks, Michele
