Hi Sammi, Loved your post. I have often asked myself over the last 2 weeks during some intense cravings why at 57 I should put myself through this but you seemed to bring it all in line. Thanks so much :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 16 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 335 Amount Saved: $104 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 8 Mins: 0 Seconds: 58

Hi Sammi, I loved your post. I spent Springbreak at the college I graduated from. While there, I thinking how I would love to go back and do things differently. Then that is when the same thought hit me. I do not want twenty something years to pass and me say I wish I had done.....in my forties. So, I have done the first thing. I have stopped smoking. The second will be to exercise more. Thanks for the wonderful post. SammijoFL You bet I would change things. NO SMOKING for one, exercising for two, and definately I would have stayed single. Don't get me wrong, marriage and kids are great, but I would have waited longer before I said those I DO'S, like maybe when i am 90 or so My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 35 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 885 Amount Saved: $175 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 18 Mins: 0 Seconds: 27

WOW Sammi... Reading your post really opened my eyes and made me think!! This is a Great attitude to have!! I am 25 years old.. Ive been smoking for 10 years (minus the 34 days of course ;) ) and quit b/c i knew i had too..for my kids, for my health, to save money...ect..To tell you the truth, i didn't even want to quit.I just knew i had to quit! Saying I am doing this, (living a healthier life) for my future self, and I owe it to that person, really gives me a reason, (so to speak) to quit! I guess ive always known this..but your post really mad it clear!! Thank you! Sammi, There are many things we wish we could do differently! The time is now and you pose a great question, what are we doing to ensure we have a more prosperous and healthier future? ( Quiting is at the top of the list :) ) Something to think about? Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.

Ive always been fascinated by the concept of time travel, and I absolutely love reading novels with the time travel premise, especially those that depict the travel back in time within ones life. I loved the whole Back to the Future series of movies and Ive often thought about What would I change if I could go back in time within my own life? Im 45 years old right now. If you could be transported back in time to the year you were twenty, what would you do differently? First, of course, I would definitely quit smoking! I would also watch what I ate and I would exercise on a regular basis. I would do all this so that I would not be out-of-breath, coughing, stiff, sore, overweight, and so terribly out of shape when I hit my forties. I would do it all for myself, for my forty-five-year-old self in 2007. Real quick, before you read on, answer the same question for yourself if you could go back 20 or 25 years, would you change to a healthier lifestyle? Would you? Then it occurred to me a strange thought IMAGINE IF it was the year 2037 and I was seventy-five years old and very, very sick because of sixty years of smoking, and so overweight that I was barely able to move because of my inactivity and poor food choices WHAT IF in the year 2037 I was given the chance to transport back thirty years to RIGHT NOW What would I do differently at age 45? Well, of course my answer was: The exact same things that I said I would do at age 20! I would quit smoking and eat healthier and I would undo that additional thirty future years of damage to my body. I would do it for myself, for my seventy-five-year-old self in 2037. Okay, so I didnt actually time travel from 2037, but I can still do this now for the person I will be then. I owe it to the person I will be then, not to miss this opportunity to act as if I DID travel back in time, and give that person a chance at living longer and more comfortably. Im a time traveler, by attitude anyway. :eg: My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 92 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,761 Amount Saved: $276 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 11 Mins: 15 Seconds: 9
