working on smoke free life

I don't have any feedback for you on the Chantix, but read some old posts here - there's lots on it. I have two boys that rank right up there in my motivation to quit. Use that, it works. It's not too early to get your meter up, it helps. Welcome. Good for you! Welcome to the SSC! I am a Chantix quitter as well. It's a great aid, just remember NOPE (Not One Puff Ever). Stay close and post to let us know how it is going. Chantix effected me about like Changing describes above. Be determined on that quit day to follow through without slipping! Progress, Please be sure to ask your doctor how long you should be taking your aids for and how often. He/she is the best authority to advise you matter. Also be sure to familiarize yourself with our online quit program. It is a great tool that can help you plan your quit. If you have any questions, just ask. Progress, The Chantix comes in a "starter kit" with each day's dosage clearly marked - you won't have any trouble figuring it out. So glad you've decided to start a healthy smoke-free life and join us here! I'm also using Chantix. I took it for 7 days and quit smoking on day #8 of taking it (this is what they recommend). Within a handful of days of starting the Chantix you will notice that your desire to smoke goes down a tiny little bit, and your cigarettes don't taste as good & aren't as "enjoyable". Be sure to get prepared for your quit date - stock up on sugarless gum & candy, carrots & crunchy veggies, & gallons of water. Make yourself a to-do list - you'll have lots of new-found time as a non-smoker. Keeping busy & distracted is extremely helpful, especially during the first few days of your quit. You CAN do this! Keep us updated on how you're doing! luvmyboys - I'm on Chantix. I also didn't notice anything at first, but as I neared the end of the first week taking it, I began to realize that I wasn't really enjoying my cigarettes as much - they didn't taste right - and my physical urge to smoke was also decreasing. I quit smoking on the 8th day of Chantix (as recommended); and I'm now into Day #10 of my quit!!!! For me, the Chantix has really helped (more than the patch, gum, etc). So, I'm hopeful that it will help you too! In the meantime, in preparation for Wednesday - stock up on sugarless gum & candy! P.S. And of course....keep posting here!
