Thank you rtchick. Several people have mentioned side effects with zyban. I hope it wont be a problem. A couple have said they were on the Chantix. That will be next if zyban doesnt work. Thanks for your info! Catlover

Hi everyone. I just signed up today. I have posted once and recieved helpful suggestions. I have been a smoker for 35 years. For health reasons, and two great grandkids, its time to quit. I went to the doctor today and he gave me zyban. I usually cant take anti deppresants, but i am hoping these are different. Anyone who has tried it, please let me know how and if it helped. He says I have ten more smoking days left, but didnt really explain how it works. I could look it up on the net, but rather here from those who have used it! Im sure I will need all the help I can get to succeed, and it looks like this is THE PLACE! Thanks for listening, Catlover My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: -7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Good luck to you catlover. We are all here for the same reason. This is the first support group I came to and so far it has been great. I hear alot of people say they belong to more than one group. I'm not that great with memory. lol :) I'm sucking on peppermints and that seems to be helping. I have to wait awhile before i can use any smoking aids. I just had a spinal fusion and I'm still on some painkillers. But anyway good luck to you and I'm hear all the time. :| Becuase I am limited on my activities for awhile. Thank God for computers :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/19/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 109 Amount Saved: $24 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 44 Seconds: 25

Congradulations on your quit. I had tried zyban in the past and it actually worked pretty well . It blocks your nicotine receptors and reduces your cravings basically. You just find you don't have a taste for them so to speak. It also helps you not be depressed and anxious. It has worked well for several people. Personally it made me feel a little to wound up and not myself I couldn't stick with it. This time I am using Chantix and am not having any wierd side effects, seems to be working well so far. I am on day 5 and feeling pretty positive. I read where a few people mentioned a ring or a token of some sort that they carry with them to help remind them. I found my 24hr chip from when I quit drinking 9 years ago it is now back in my pocket. I rub it when ever I am having a hard time. It helped alot before and it's helping again this time. Along with the little prayer "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference". Hard to believe that thing has any letters left on it. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/15/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 103 Amount Saved: $15 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 12 Mins: 3 Seconds: 39

Hi Catlover I'm on wellbutrin and I love it. Unlike my other quits, I do not have strong cravings, I do not feel anger or rage and I do not have constant conversations in my head about smoking or making deals with the nicodemon. Everybody is different but I can say I have zero side effects from the drug. It also curbed my appetite in the beginning and I actually lost some weight during the first two weeks. Congratulations on deciding to quit! I'm on Wellbutrin (generic zyban) and doing really well with it this time around. I did try it twice before and didn't make it, but that's because I fought it and I guess just didn't want it bad enough! Best I can say is try it and see how it goes for you, if it works, great! If not, then maybe Chantix is the one for you. Good luck with your quit! Hi, I have used it all. This last time I tried Chantix. I had no side effects. I smoked 52 years and up to 3 pks day. So you can do it also.
