Hi Lauren :) I'm on my second smoke free day and feel really good! What helped me was just the fact that cigs had never fully satisfied my expectation for feeling good. It was a matter of addiction not pleasure! This quotation might help: " ...each cigarette causing rather than relieving the empty, insecure felling and automatically ensuring the need for the next" Best wishes and lots of good luck, mitri My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5 Amount Saved: $1 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 4 Mins: 2 Seconds: 48

It doesn't take much for that monkey to be back on your back. Believe me, I know. Now, I'm also here, dealing with the same addiction issues as someone who has never tried to quit. Come on with me and make it stick this time. And beware, Ol' Nic never really leaves some of us, he just fades away. But he can fade away to the point of never being an issue again - so long as we remember who is boss. Thanks for the info guys and thanks for the reply. Kiwi lets see how it goes next week strategy is good its just the implementation that will take forever literaly. Well done Mitri I remember the 1st week being the hardest time and after that it was plain sailing for me (ovbiously until crisis occurs) Another thing that helped and will help me next week when I quit is when craving remember that it only lasts for 5 minutes then during those 5 minutes pracise deep slow breating techniques which will emphasise how nice and clean and strong your lungs feel. :)

Hi all ;p Im about to quit for the 2nd time on Sunday the 11th Feb 07. I quit previously 11 April 06 for 7 months and after a personal crisis I started again stupidly. I did not even enjoy the 1st one or the 2nd one so it was really silly of me to continue and slip back into my bad habbit again. I am irritated with myself but I have also accepted that I chose to start again therefore next time I can retrace my feelings at the point of picking up that 1st ciggi again and prepare my 'new thaughts' to be enforced should such a situation arise again. Has anybody else stopped for a while and now years on still smoke free.Text My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: -5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Lauren, Welcome back to our boards! We are happy to see you return! Don't forget to rework the tools of the site, including the online quit program. Having a plan for triggers is always a good idea. Making sure you have alternative coping strategies, especially for life stressors makes it more likely you'll try those before going back to your old coping strategy of lighting up. We will look for you on the 11th. Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team

ello, ello. Sounds like a plan that you've got worked out there Lauren! I found it takes a few cigs to get hooked again, it's quite bizare that you actually have to re-learn to get hooked again. The same trigger for me unfortunately .... stress or the dreaded 'situation'. Well done & goof for you .... it's good to know what your past triggers where ! Hope to see you around.
