Good luck Ann, I'll be thinking about you too. Remember that JUST doing it, IS success. I don't know that I could drive anywhere for 3 hours...so you're already a success in my eyes. Let us know... :)

Hi Ann I'm thinking about you on your trip today and I know you can make it. Good luck and let us know how it went!

Thank you all so much for the kind words and encouragement. I AM going to do this. I will think of your comments when I on my journey and try to stay positive and focussed. I will let you all know how I get on. Maybe I will post it in the 'success stories' (hopefully).

Hello Ann, This is what I would suggest: >positive self talk, try this week to tell yourself you can do this >deep breathing, in through the nose out through the mouth Hope this helps. Keep posting your thoughts and concerns, let us know how it goes. You can do this. Susanne

Have you ever thought of getting a "Book on Tape" from your local library? I did that once when I had to take a long road trip. I think I got "The First Wives Club." Something more suitable that your kids could listen to (and you could enjoy too) might help distract you somewhat. Its worth a shot anyway. Cheryl

I have another idea for you Ann.... Don't think about the trip home...... ONLY focus on the trip going there.... because, as we tend to jump ahead of ourselves.... when we do, we trip ourselves up... LOL... don't make your trip coming home dependent upon anything. IN other words, treat them as two separate events, not related in anyway. Make the trip there your main focus...right now... I know how easily postive thoughts get tossed out the window....believe me........but if you consciously feed yourself ONLY the positive, it will leave little room for the negative ones to creep in... When you catch yourself saying "WHAT IF?" reply with "WHAT HAS BEEN?" Hugs to you!!!!!!!! :)

Thank you Kitcat for your reply and advice. My girls are 10 and 3 so we would be able to do the story idea. I have to do this journey anyway. I am trying to stay positive but I know as soon as I sit behind that wheel on friday that all the positive thoughts will go straight out of the window. I will let you know how I do. The only other thing worrying me is if the journey there is really bad, then I still have the journey back to do too.

I was thinking then, of some game the three of you might engage in, to sort of distract you. My kids and I used to look for specific license plates...Like find one from xx State, then choose another state. Someone else here suggested adding up the numbers on license plates... Another thing I used to do with my kids..this is kind of cool...I used to start a story...like "There were these two little girls and their names were.... then my child would take turns with me filling in the blanks and taking the story in all kinds of direction.. it would go on for a long time... don't know if your daughters are old enough for this kind of thing, but if they are, it's really alot of fun When we'd get stuck we'd start the story over using other subjects, etc...you get the idea? Eating small snacks...having a ball point pen to click off and on.... Soothing music, drinking water, breathing....and telling yourself that deep down, you won't pass out..... Refuse to believe those negative thoughts and try replacing them with positive ones...such as "I know I'm a good driver" Have you ever passed out before? If not, then your real battle is realizing that even though you may feel like that, your past has proven the opposite to be true and REAL! I hope that others will offer other suggestions... Good luck...do your best to get through it.... ONCE you do, reward yourself!! ;)

They probably add to the anxiety as when I get a weird symptom I think that I may pass out at the wheel and lose control of the car etc, although I am still as anxious on my own. I dont know what to do.

Hi Ann I don't envy you.... Do your two daughters add to your anxiety or take away from it? I mean, would it be easier to do the trip alone, or not?
