Paxil CR - dCheryl

I've never tried Valium. A friend of mine actually gave me one the other day but I was afraid to take it. Its always like that with me and any medication. I'm afraid they are going to do more harm than good and once they are in my system and theres no turning back. So far though the Paxil CR seems to be doing right by me. It's only been a week but this is day 2 that I've woken up feeling good instead of anxious. Normally I feel very anxious from the minute I get out of bed. I think I'll stick with this for awhile and see if things continue to improve. But thanks for the tip.

A couple years ago I was put on Paxil but I didn't feel it did much for me. I didn't like the idea of taking a pill everyday and then having to slowly stop taking it when I didn't want it anymore. Now I take Diazepam (Valium). I don't have to take it everyday, just as needed; when I'm feeling anxious. I'm not big on taking medication, but this has turned out to be very effective for me. I have no negative side effects, I can function without feeling "drugged," go to work, etc. Maybe ask your doctor about it. Good luck!

Smiley - I had been taking 25md daily, then I cut back to 25 mg every other day. No problems there. But when I cut back to 12.5 every other day - BAM! I got the "brain zaps", was very dizzy, nauseated, and light-headed, very jittery and anxious, couldn't sleep, was having horrific dreams. :( Yuck! Now I'm taking 12.5 every day - the withdrawal symptoms have stopped. Now I dread trying to cut back again!

Thank you both for answering...was wondering if anyone was going to. My doc said I might get headaches and today is the 2nd day I've taken it. No headache but I do feel sinus pressure in my nose and forehead. And you know what else? I keep sneezing. Started shortly after I took it yesterday, sneezed off and on all day, then this evening I took it and the sneezing started again. Other than that its making me feel wonderful. I'd rather sneeze 24/7 than deal with this anxiety all the time. I'm only taking 12.5mg but I drove home in heavy traffic, I went to dinner with my sister and her girls and I had myself a wonderful evening!

Serranian, That is exactly what happened to me. Did you have really bad headaches too? The withdrawal symptoms should go away in a week or so. Isn't it weird how what works great for one doesn't work at all for another? I know alot of people that take paxil and they say it's a miracle drug.

dCheryl - I've been on the Paxil since September, and I have seen no change whatsoever in my panic or my depression. Right after I started it and until I cut back to 12.5 mg/day, I was pretty much in a perpetual state of hypomania :( The only thing I've noticed is the awful withdrawal symptoms when I try to get off it :8o: I guess it's just not the thing for me!
